Big Walk 2014 hailed a success

Over £2,000 has been added to the Exeter Foundation coffers following the highly successful Big Walk 2014 held at the weekend.

Helping to raise vital funds for theFoundation, which looks to support a minimum of 20 local charities and organisations, the 84 walkers proudly took up the challenge of working their way around the picturesque 10-mile course that started and finished at Sandy Park, home to the Exeter Chiefs rugby team.

Devon Sports Awards 2014 Finalists Revealed

The finalists in this year’s Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards, in association with Active Devon have been revealed. They include sportsmen and women, clubs, coaches and volunteers from all four corners of the county. The event will once again be hosted at Sandy Park, the home of LV= Cup winning Premiership rugby team the Exeter Chiefs. The competition was open to those involved in sport throughout Devon and, unlike similar awards, all the profits will be donated to charity. The chance to be wined and dined alongside members of the Exeter Chiefs first team squad certainly proved a smash hit as over 300 females descended on Sandy Park for the latest Ladies Night (Thursday 30 January).

In a fun-filled evening at the home of the Aviva Premiership club, party-goers not only got the chance to be in the company of the Chiefs players for a night, but they were royally entertained with musical performances from both Adam Isaac and Riccardo, as well as getting the chance to dance the night away with Danny’s Disco.

Exeter Foundation styles youngsters back into education

A group of Exeter NEETs (young people Not in Education, Employment or Training) has been given a helping hand to get back into learning thanks to a £1,890 grant from the Exeter Foundation.

The funding has paid for equipment to enable eight young people to study a Level One Course in Hair & Beauty and Customer Service at Hair@TheAcademy, which is based at Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education.

Active Devon has today announced the finalists of the prestigious Devon Sports Awards.

Running for over ten years, the awards attract hundreds of nominations each year, but this year saw a record number of nominations that were judged by an independent panel of experts last week.

Chiefs get their teeth into fundraising burgers!

Members of the Exeter Chiefs squad have already been showing their support to the Exeter Foundation, which is set to benefit every time someone tucks into a specially-made ‘Chiefs Burger’ at Urban Burger in the City Centre.

In a new incentive thought up by Urban Burger owner Garth and Melissa Pearse, the Foundation will benefit to the tune of 50p each time a customer orders the mouth-watering Chiefs Burger, which is made up of two 6oz prime Red Ruby Devon beef patties, bacon, fried onions, mayo and two slices of American cheese.
