How to add your article or event

Contributor Guidelines – The Exeter Daily

The Exeter Daily is your newspaper — a true platform for Citizen Journalism across the county. We give the people of Devon the opportunity to be reporters, reviewers, and publicists — sharing the stories, opinions, and events that matter most to our communities.

Getting Started

To contribute, simply choose the relevant button in the “It’s Your Daily” box to submit either an article or an event.

You’ll then be taken to the editor window.

Don’t be put off by the buttons — you can keep things simple or explore the formatting tools at your own pace. It works much like a regular word processor, so you can type directly into the box or paste text from elsewhere.

Please remember the basics of copyright law — only submit material you’ve written yourself, or that you have permission to use. If in doubt, leave it out.

Feature Images

Every article or event submission requires a feature image. Please take a moment to review our photo submission rules (below) before uploading.

Photo Submission Guidelines

To maintain our professional standards and ensure full legal compliance, all contributors must follow these simple rules when submitting images:

You must own the photo, hold a valid licence, or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to use it.

By submitting a photo, you confirm that you have the rights to publish it on The Exeter Daily.

If a photo requires credit, please ensure the photographer or source is clearly acknowledged in the caption or accompanying text.

If you are unsure about permissions or copyright, do not use the image. Instead, please select a royalty-free image from trusted sources such as:

  • Pixabay.com
  • Pexels.com
  • Unsplash.com

Only images that fully comply with these guidelines will be accepted for publication.

Videos

You can also include an external video link (for example, from YouTube).
Popular videos may be featured as a “Top Video” across the site.

Submitting Your Content

Once you’ve finished your article or event listing, simply click “Save” at the bottom of the page.

Your submission will be reviewed by one of our editors for accuracy, presentation, and compliance with our editorial and legal standards.
Depending on the queue, your article should be published soon after review.
