St. Margaret's Church Flower Festival

ST MARGARET’S CHURCH, TOPSHAM PATRONAL FLOWER FESTIVAL 2019 FLIGHTS OF FANCY!

The festival will take place on Thursday 18th July and Friday 19th July from 10.00-6.00 and on Saturday 20th July from 10.00-5.00 in St. Margaret’s Church, Topsham.

Bring your friends and enjoy the delicious refreshments and lunches! Entry free. The funds raised this year will be shared between St. Margaret’s Church and MAF - MISSION AVIATION FELLOWSHIP.

The Summer Show is the longest running Devon Guild exhibition, launched in 1955 to celebrate the skills and original work of long-standing Guild Members through to the newest faces. The exhibition is selected by the Guild’s Members’ Selection Committee, a representative from the exhibitions team and an independent craft professional, just a week prior to opening to the public. More than 250 Guild Members have the opportunity to submit their work, which ranges from traditional to cutting edge crafts.

The Devon Art Society´s big summer exhibition is going to be held at St. Annes Hall, Babbacombe. There will be hundreds of paintings on display. The artists are showing new works covering classical themes such as floral, still-life, figurative and landscape as well as seascape subject matters and some abstracts too. The Devon Art Society of Torquay has a long tradition of exhibiting and selling high quality paintings since 1912 when some of the greatest artists of their times were among the founder members.

Exhibition by Devon Guild of Weavers Spinners and Dyers

Established in 1951, the aims of our Guild are the preservation and improvement of the craftsmanship in hand weaving, spinning and dyeing for the benefit of the public and the promotion of public education in such craftsmanship.

In addition; to foster a sense of beauty of material, texture, colour and design. 

To this end our exhibition at Buckfast Abbey will hope to showcase all our core skills and more, encourage people to have a go at spinning on the Guild wheel, or weaving on a small loom. 

Stewards will be on hand to answer questions and give guidance.
