Chiefs charity says 'Thanks A Million'!

A charity set up just six years ago to help promote the local community and the vision of people who and work there is today celebrating raising the sum of £1m.

Put together back in 2011 by three rugby directors and three local businessmen, the Exeter Foundation is a city-based charity that has been working tirelessly to bring future prosperity to the people in and around the Devon city.

And since its inception the Exeter Foundation has helped to directly fund over 75 different charities and organisations in a series of wide-ranging projects and schemes.

James Cracknell OBE to speak at Devon Sports Awards

Inspiring sportsman, athlete and adventurer James Cracknell OBE has been confirmed as guest speaker for this year’s Devon Sports Awards.

The ceremony will take place at Exeter’s Sandy Park on June 30th 2017, celebrating contribution to sport throughout Devon.

Former rower Cracknell won two Olympic Gold medals and six World Championship titles in an illustrious career, before turning his focus to other challenges including marathons, cross-Atlantic rowing and South Pole races.

Exeter Foundation funds vital equipment for Hospiscare

The Exeter Foundation has donated £5000 to Exeter-based adult hospice charity, Hospiscare, to help fund 60 nurse bags.

The bags, which will hold key pieces of diagnostic equipment, will be used by Hospiscare’s 28 community nurses and bank staff at patient’s homes, nursing homes and at hospices to help diagnose patients more directly.

Wooden Spoon & Exeter Foundation Christmas Lunch

The Children’s Charity of Rugby, Wooden Spoon, and the Chiefs’ Charity, the Exeter Foundation, have joined forces to deliver a new Christmas Lunch with great food and excellent entertainment.

Taking place at Sandy Park on Friday 9th December, the event will include a three-course festive lunch, a guest speaker and comedian plus comperes former Chief Chris Bentley and former Bath and England player David Trick.

Local Charities benefit from work of Exeter Foundation

The success of the Exeter Foundation was highlighted in all its glory as 18 local charities and organisations were rewarded at Saturday night’s Season Launch Dinner held at Sandy Park.

A grand total of over £53,000 – raised through match-day bucket and car park collections – was distributed to the charities and organisations following another hugely successful year for the charity.

Each charity was also given an extra £1,000 as a gesture of thanks for their ongoing good work that they continuously provide for the citizens of Exeter and surrounding areas.

Rugby clubs unite to remember fallen heroes

Fallen heroes from the Devon and Ulster Regiments, which served at the Battle of the Somme, are to be remembered ahead of tomorrow’s pre-season rugby friendly between Exeter Chiefs and Ulster Rugby.

A new exhibition is being set up for the day at Sandy Park Stadium, the home of the Chiefs, to remember 3,237 Allied servicemen from the Devon and Ulster regiments who paid the ultimate sacrifice on the first day of battle on July 1, 1916.

The entertainment at this year's Exeter Chiefs Season Launch Dinner on Saturday 27th August has been confirmed, with Q&As, a special guest speaker and live music just some of the great things on offer.

The evening, which will be celebrating 10 years of Sandy Park, will feature a special Q&A with star names from the Exeter Chiefs squad, as well as guest speaker David Flatman, the former England Rugby international turned TV Pundit, and live music from Charge!

Insurance brokers complete 66 mile challenge

Two directors of a Devon insurance company have completed a big health and fitness challenge all in aid of charity.

Northcott Beaton Directors Nick Beaton and Keiron Northcott have been in training with David Lloyd fitness expert Simon Wilson for the last five months and have raised over £3,000 after completing the Exe Valley Endurance, a 66 mile walk, over the 11th and 12th June.

The money will go to the Exeter Foundation, the Exeter Chiefs charity, which supports a number of community charities including ELF, Dream Away and Force.

New play area for Bramble Ward kids!

Children and young people staying in the RD&E’s Bramble Unit now have a completely revamped outside play area thanks to a massive fundraising drive by local people.

More than £32,000 has been raised since 2014. The Exeter Lions, who funded the original play area built in the mid-1980s, kick-started and then masterminded a fundraising campaign which was joined by the Exeter Foundation, bike riders from ‘ Otter Wheels’ , and backed up by other donations from a multitude of other generous individuals, including the children themselves.
