Two directors of a Devon insurance company have completed a big health and fitness challenge all in aid of charity.

Northcott Beaton Directors Nick Beaton and Keiron Northcott have been in training with David Lloyd fitness expert Simon Wilson for the last five months and have raised over £3,000 after completing the Exe Valley Endurance, a 66 mile walk, over the 11th and 12th June.

The money will go to the Exeter Foundation, the Exeter Chiefs charity, which supports a number of community charities including ELF, Dream Away and Force.

Special guests from the Exeter Foundation were also invited to join them on parts of the 66 mile hike, including Michael Caines who met them on their last leg of the journey at Exeter Quay,

Northcott Beaton, an insurance brokers based in Heavitree, Exeter, launched The NB Big Challenge this summer, an annual event, which will see them seek out a new exciting encounter each year.

In the run up to the event, they both embarked on a journey to get fit and healthy with the support of local health club David Lloyd.

Their fitness regime and healthy eating plan aided them in completing the challenge.

David Lloyd allocated ex-marine Simon Wilson to help them with the challenge. Simon has been in the fitness industry for 27 years and competes in triathlons. He regularly put the directors through their paces and supported them to achieve their goals.

Keiron Northcott, Commercial Director at Northcott Beaton, said: “Taking on the Exe Valley Endurance has been a great experience. The route was steeper and the terrain was more arduous than we originally thought but we completed it!

“We faced all kinds of weather from heavy downpours to glorious sunshine so it was challenging but it was fun and very rewarding when we crossed the finishing line with a few aches and blisters on Sunday evening!”

Nick Beaton, Managing Director at Northcott Beaton, said: “I’m so proud to be able to say that Keiron and I have completed the challenge and raised a fantastic amount for Exeter Foundation. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it really does mean a lot and the money will go on to give considerable help to some amazing charities.”

After the success of this years event, The NB Big Challenge will take place every year with the challenge determined by what Northcott Beaton’s Twitter followers want to see Nick and Keiron take on.

Donations to support the NB Big Challenge can still be made and will be very much appreciated. People can donate by visiting: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/nbbigchallenge2016
