Angels and Saints: A piano recital by Stephen Beville

Now that classical music concerts have really begun again in earnest after the bad old days of lockdown, we are lucky that musicians are returning to perform in St. Margaret's Church in Topsham, and make use of its beautiful Yamaha grand piano again.

One such is Exeter pianist and composer Stephen Beville, who last played here in 2019. His new programme Angels and Saints contains one of his own compositions entitled Portrait of the Angel Raphael , plus music by Bach, Beethoven and Chopin. After his successful recital 'Musical Paintings' in 2019, internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Stephen Beville ( ) returns to St Margarets Church Topsham for this afternoon matinee recital on Sunday 22nd May.

The programme will explore both pastoral and religious themes, including the premiere of Beville's new work 'Portrait of the Angel Raphael'.

Topsham local, Paula, is celebrating after being selected as the winner of McCarthy Stone recent photography competition.

Run by the leading manager and developer of retirement communities behind the forthcoming Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development in Topsham, the competition called for local residents to share photographs of their favourite scenery, wildlife, and landscapes from all corners of the town.

The competition was judged by the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, who chose Paula’s sunset photograph entitled Underway in Topsham...

Community in Topsham supported with fibre broadband connections

People in Topsham are celebrating after the completion of a scheme to connect around 120 homes and businesses in the town to Gigabit capable fibre broadband.

Local resident Andy Rook led a community effort for fibre connections to the Greatwood Terrace area of Topsham, which previously suffered from poor connectivity.

Andy admits his local community wouldn’t have been able to get better broadband without the support of the Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) programme.

The McCarthy Stone Foundation has provided a welcome boost ahead of the Christmas period for local Topsham charity, the Estuary League of Friends, to help support those living with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

In a bid to make Christmas a little brighter this year, the McCarthy Stone Foundation has given the Estuary League of Friends a £250 donation, which will help with the running costs of its Memory Café, a support group offered to those living with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

Topsham means business this weekend

This weekend people can enjoy a glimpse of what makes a buzzing local town tick as a host of entrepreneurs and artisans take part in the first-ever Topsham Business Fair.

The Right Worshipful the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Trish Oliver, donned a hard hat last week to help break the ground at McCarthy Stone’s latest Topsham Retirement Living Plus development, Pym Court on Beswick Avenue.
