Pancake Race for charity is a flipping success

Supporters and shoppers stopped at Exeter’s Princesshay to watch companies compete for the Pancake World Champion title today.

The Pancake World Championship is a partnership between local Event Management Company Wacky Nation and Princesshay, to raise funds for local charity Dream-A-Way, Princesshay’s charity of the year for 2014. It was hosted by Radio Exe.

The Championship saw teams from companies including Barclays, Gourmandine and Santander flipping pancakes whilst trying to reach the finish line first.

Princesshay will host the inaugural World Pancake Racing Championships on Shrove Tuesday (4 March).

Local businesses, organisations and individuals are now being invited to demonstrate their pancake flipping credentials by entering a team of between two and four members.

A New Year, A New You with Nike Running by Sweatshop, Princesshay

Nike Running by Sweatshop in Princesshay is helping the people of Exeter get fit and stay fit this New Year. Beginners Run Club takes place each Monday from 6.15pm and Group Run Club for those with more experience on Tuesdays from 6.15pm.

Crowds of over nine thousand braved the wind and rain on Sunday 15th December to see the Coca Cola Christmas Truck visit Exeter. Princesshay was packed with people on Thursday night for the big Christmas lights switch on.

Musical Performances by the University of Exeter’s Jazz Orchestra, the South West Music Academy and the Lympstone Military Wives choir counted down to the main event.

Rob Baxter head coach of the Exeter Chiefs and Paul Tisdale, manager of Exeter City Football Club were joined on stage by Exeter City players John O’Flynn and Sam Parkin and the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Rachel Lyons, to officially turn on the lights.
