Hospiscare invites you to Holcombe Court’s Open Garden weekend

Local charity Hospiscare is delighted to announce that for the second year running there will an Open Garden weekend held on 23rd and 24th September at the beautiful private home, Holcombe Court in Holcombe Rogus.

Holcombe Court is a Grade I Tudor manor house situated on the border of Devon and Somerset, and its seven-acre garden is rarely open to the public.

The 2016 weekend raised over £4,000 to support Pine Lodge Day Hospice in Tiverton and it is hoped the amount will be beaten this year. The funds raised will prove invaluable towards ensuring that Hospiscare can...

Supporters are coming from far and wide to take part in Hospiscare’s Breakfast Run at the picturesque Knightshayes near Tiverton on the 17th September.

Sarah Awbery and her daughter are travelling all the way from Bournemouth to take part and are currently busy training and raising sponsorship. They have a special reason for supporting local charity, Hospiscare.

Although it has been over six years since Sarah’s father, Ray Pett, was cared for by Hospiscare, her memories of visiting him on the ward at Searle House in Exeter are still fresh.

Dr. Sarah Jackson has long been a supporter of popular Devon charity Hospiscare , and now holds the position of trustee. But this September will see Sarah go further still as she plans the challenge of completing her first half-ironman to raise funds for the charity.

Local couple to trek 600 miles across Pyrenees mountains

A local couple are trekking 600 miles across the Pyrenees mountains in aid of Kidney Research UK. From 4th July, Ali Reid Wolfe and Emma Thomas aim to hike from the south-west coast of France in Hendaye, crossing France, Andorra and Spain to reach Banyuls-sur-Mer on the east coast. The pair were inspired to take on the charity challenge by Ali’s brother, Seb, who suffered kidney failure as a teenager.

The Hospiscare Coffee Morning 2017 is on its way, and popular local celebrity Judi Spiers is once again supporting the local charity, joining coffee and cake lovers in Exeter, Mid and East Devon throughout September.

Hospiscare Coffee Mornings are being held by supporters in their homes and village halls, even in local parks if the weather is fine. Plenty of businesses are also getting involved, with employees bringing cakes to work and holding competitions in staff canteens. Devon Air Ambulance’s annual Motorcycle Ride Out returns

Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) are excited to announce that this year’s Motorcycle Ride Out, sponsored by Bridge Motorcycles, will return to the Den, Teignmouth on Sunday 9th July 2017.

It is anticipated in the region of 1000 bikes will enter this year’s Ride Out which will start from Trago Mills, Newton Abbot, from where the bikes will set off in small groups from 10:30am.

Registration will open at 9am. The bikes will then follow an approximate 80 miles marshalled route through the stunning Devon countryside before arriving at the Den, Teignmouth, from lunch time.

Hospiscare’s Breakfast Run 2017 has been launched to the delight of the students at Heathcote Primary School in Tiverton, who held a Bring your Teddy to School day to celebrate the occasion.
