Rusty Pig announces total raised at Tar Barrels

Rusty Pig’s mobile feasting wagons scored a major success at this year’s Tar Barrels in Ottery.

The two wagons, based in Mill Street during the revels, raised a total of £2015 for the Ottery St Mary Carnival Committee.

Rusty Pig owner, Robin Rea said: “We knew this would be a busy year as Tar Barrels fell on a Saturday – the town was heaving.

“Having two wagons instead of the single one we had last year meant we could serve many more revellers than before.”

Chilcotts Auctioneers summer show competition winner has been announced.

The competition asked visitors to the Chilcotts show stand at the Honiton and North Devon Shows to take a guess at the price an auction lot would achieve at auction.

The lot, an early twentieth century miniature chest on stand, was a tricky one to estimate. However, Paul Benson from Taunton got very close with a guess of £225. The chest was sold at auction in the September sale for £220.

XYBC , which has been supported by Ashfords LLP since its inception in 2002, gives young professionals within the Exeter business community the opportunity to network and socialise.

WESC Foundation (WESC) in partnership with Listen2Win hosted a Visual Impairment Challenge at WESC’s 14-acre campus in Exeter.

A former lawyer who hopes to turn his passion for pets into a business is on course to hit a crowdfunding target.

Matthew Dunne aims to help locally-owned vets practices compete on a level playing field with the powerful corporate owned operations.

He is attempting to raise £40,000 on Crowdcube.

Exeter Golf Club donates £8,000 to RD&E cardiac fund

Patients at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital can now recline in comfort when having a scan of their heart thanks to a £4,000 donation from the Exeter Golf and Country Club.

The donation to the RD&E’s Cardiac Fund has been used to purchase a new ‘echo couch’ for patients to lie on when having an echocardiogram, a scan using sound waves to create images of the heart and surrounding blood vessels. The new couch replaces an older and worn-out version in one of the Cardiac Unit’s three echo suites on Taw Ward, and will significantly increase patients’ comfort.
