Corner House Vets to boost Twilight Walk

The theme for this year’s all-female Twilight Walk on Saturday is “Back To The '80s”. And one group of Girls (who) Just Wanna Have Fun will be the assorted group of vets and administrative staff from Corner House Vets in Exmouth. They will also receive support from a very special friend: Ella the Owl, the event mascot! No doubt, she’ll be hoping for a performance of the Birdie Song!

In fact, as Jo Mason Managing Director of Corner House Vets confirms, they have entered a team for the walk for the last two years.

Butties and cakes raise £10,000 for Hospiscare

Hospiscare and Chilcotts Auctioneers are celebrating raising funds of more than £10,000 with an ongoing fundraising initiative that benefits both the charity and visitors to auctions.

Chilcotts’ staff kitchen at the Silver Street sale room – which is next to the livestock market - is used every sale day by the local Hospiscare team to sell teas, coffees, savoury snacks such as bacon rolls and popular homemade cakes, with every penny raised going to the charity.

Rebecca Goodenough and a group of friends are having a Hen Night with a difference. They are taking part in The Twilight Walk, a ladies only event in Exmouth on 8th July raising much needed funds for Hospiscare.

When she was just 13 years old Rebecca's mum died in St Michael’s Hospice, East Sussex. This was back in 1987 when it was a rarity to find a hospice, and at that time there were just six beds available at St Michael’s.

Life Education Wessex is calling on golfers to join its Charity Golf Day on Thursday 8th June 2017 at Woodbury Park Golf Club, Exeter, to raise vital funds to support health, wellbeing and drug education for local children.

Earlier in March, Hospiscare was delighted to welcome a ‘sell-out’ crowd of men and boys, who joined the Hospiscare Charity Men’s Walk 2017, walking 8 miles in the fine weather along the canal path from Double Locks to the Turf Hotel and back again, to enjoy a pint, a Chunk pasty and watch England beat Scotland to retain the Calcutta Cup.

Funding needed for art project supporting people with dementia

AN Exeter project, which offers outdoor activities and art projects for people living with dementia has been put at risk due to lack of funding. Developed by Age UK Exeter, the `Budding Friends´ initiative provides a weekly allotment project through the spring and summer and art workshops in partnership with Studio 36. Last year, over 200 staff across 33 branches of Bradleys Estate Agents in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset tackled a range of fundraising activities to raise money for Exeter Deaf Academy.

The University of Exeter has launched its most ambitious philanthropic Campaign to date to reinforce its position as one of the leading research institutions worldwide.
