Bare heads for charity

Nine brave souls had their heads shaved at the Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary, raising over £2,000 for charity CLIC Sargent.

Michelle Broadhurst, Roger Strike, Ed Winson, Jason Osborne, Andy Broadhurst, Carl Creek, Andy Russell, Mark Oke and Fran Lea all offered up their locks to hairdresser Sandi Scott and her team. The fundraising was supplemented by a raffle and cake sale.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading charity for children and young people with cancer, and is one of the main charity's supported by the Volunteer Inn.

Princesshay's security get set for Great West Run

Members of the Princesshay security team are limbering up for the annual Great West Run in Exeter on 18th October, to raise money for Princesshay’s charity of the year, Age UK Exeter.

David Purse, Princesshay Security Manager, will be leading the team of five through the testing half marathon race. Their aim is to raise £2000 in sponsorship for Age UK Exeter. This donation will help fund services and activities across the city in support of older people in the local community.

Celebrate and raise funds for SNUG

There are still tickets available for the fundraising ball of the year.

Supporting Neonatal Users and Graduates (SNUG) is hosting its first fundraising ball on Saturday 7th November at the Rougemont Hotel, Exeter.

The evening promises to be a fun and uplifting evening raising funds for the work SNUG does supporting parents and families of babies who have been born premature.

The ball which begins at 7.30 is vintage themed with table games, a vintage photo booth, silent auction and raffle all being offered on the evening. Along with a three course meal the evenings...

Police staff are in the pink

Police officers and staff in Devon and Cornwall are a shade more colourful this week for a unique charity drive which has raised £12,000.

Many police officers and staff have swapped traditional epaulettes for bright pink ones and are sporting pink lanyards on their Force ID badges for a week [7-13 September].

The uniform change is part of a Forcewide charity drive in support Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer’s chosen annual charities.

More than 1,300 employees have so far bought pink epaulettes and lanyards from their salaries to support Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer...

Our huge thanks go to everyone who made our recent fundraising and awareness day in Exeter a great success. Volunteers from the Wilko, Exeter, Bovis Homes SW and the Cranbrook Macmillan Fundraising Group collected over £1,400 from generous Exeter shoppers in the High Street and the volunteers at the cancer information tent, many of whom were Macmillan healthcare professionals, were able to provide information to help people at a difficult time

Help Hospiscare reach £50,000 target

Keep your amazing Twilight Walk sponsorship money coming in and help Hospiscare reach its £50,000 target!

On a glorious sunny evening last month more than 800 women, dressed in Hawaiian party outfits and walked along Exmouth’s seafront and around the town. Walkers came from Exeter, East and Mid Devon to support the local charity which helps patients and families living with a terminal illness.

So far they have raised £48, 515 and Hospiscare fundraiser Charlotte Knipe is keen to remind anyone who has not yet returned their sponsorship money to do so.
