Following a recent boating accident in Teignmouth, resulting in local man Mark Prowse losing a leg.

There is to be a Benefit gig to be held at THE COVE Pub in Teignmouth on July 8th to raise funds for him..

The aim is to raise funds towards Mark having a fitted Prosthetic limb, to help get him mobile again & give him a better quality of life.. The event starts at 2.00pm with seven local live bands & artists playing throughout the day to closing.

Grimm Times for Silverton: Dark tales performed at starlit summer shows

SILVERTON’s summer bliss is set to be shattered as dark fairy tales take centre stage in the Mid Devon village.

Strange creatures, characters and much-loved names from the brothers Grimm will star in a series of stories performed outside by The Silverton Luvvies old and young – as a host of new stars will join the much loved troupe.

Using the backdrop of the village’s medieval church and performed in a magical garden, the 200-year-old German fairy tales will come alive for two nights this July as the players tackle a number of the well, and less well, known stories....

Shrouds of the Somme returns to Exeter

Shrouds of the Somme returns to Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens on Saturday (30 June), two years after its original installation moved thousands of visitors.

The 2018 exhibition, which runs until Sunday 8 July, takes the form of a ‘Trench’. It marks 100 years since the end of the First World War and will see 72,396 shrouded figures stacked – one on top of another – in a free-standing wooden representation of a trench, alongside which visitors will be able to walk and view the names of all those killed in Britain’s bloodiest battle, who have no known grave.

Christians in Exeter tune into innovative online prayer gathering

Christians across Exeter are invited to tune into a LIVE online prayer gathering – which is thought to be the first of its kind in the county.

The broadcast called ‘Devon Awake’ is expected to see over one thousand Christians log on from across the region and tune in to this innovative gathering which is being streamed on a dedicated event website.

Calling wildlife and countryside photographers

East Devon District Council has launched a competition to find the best photographs of the East Devon Countryside for the Wild East Devon 2019 calendar.

The competition opens on Sunday 1 July 2018 and entries can be sent until Friday 31 August.

All photographs must be taken in East Devon and can be of views, wildlife, wildflowers or trees.

Entrants can enter up to three of their best, high resolution photographs in the competition by emailing them to wild@eastdevon.gov.uk
