Firms combine talents to bring festive cheer to Exeter shoppers

Top 40 accountants Bishop Fleming and Top 200 lawyers Stephens Scown, both with head offices based in Exeter, joined forces last Friday (16 December) to bring Christmas cheer to the shoppers of Princesshay.

The firms' choirs, ABBA-cus (Bishop Fleming) and The Rolling Scowns (Stephens Scown) provided a joint performance of Christmas songs to help Exeter shoppers get into the festive spirit whilst also raising valuable funds for Age UK Exeter.

A total of £209.72 was raised for the charity during the hour-long carol recital.

Semi-Toned release charity Christmas single

The University of Exeter’s a cappella band Semi-Toned is topping their win of a nationwide singing competition by releasing a festive medley.

The all-male group, which recently won the BBC2 primetime show The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain, is today releasing their charity single A Very Semi-Toned Christmas. It features some of the best known and loved hits of the Christmas season, including classics by Bing Crosby, Mariah Carey, Wham! And Elvis Presley.

CLIC for Christmas 2016 - final lineup revealed

Schools from Barnstaple and Plymouth have won a chance to perform in a major fundraising concert in Exeter Cathedral. The Park Community School and Devonport High School emerged victorious from the Devon Schools Choir Competition, run by La La Choirs at Southernhay URC on October 6. Lovers of classical music are in for a rare treat this weekend, as Exeter’s best-loved choir combines with professional orchestral players for a special evening of music by Mozart.
