Informal Concert: Vauxhall Male Voice Choir

Saturday 14th October 2017 at 13.00

This accomplished Luton-based choir will sing a broad cross-section of items including Welsh hymn tunes,
songs from the shows, light operatic choruses, spirituals, and traditional male voice choir standards.

The choir is based in Luton, home of the famous Vauxhall Motors. It was born in 1943, during the dark World War II years. Since those early days the choir has grown and matured. It has done all things expected of male voice choirs — and more! Competitions, appearances with military bands, TV appearances and travel; all these facets of male voice singing have been experienced and enjoyed by choristers past and present.

One aspect the singers enjoy, to a man, is performing in the fantastic acoustic environments afforded by the great Cathedrals of the British Isles. They offer a full hour of entertainment of a selection of songs from their extensive repertoire. They have prepared an eclectic mix of male voice choir favourites for this recital which we are sure you will enjoy.

Their accomplished accompanist, James Banville, will also offer magical solo items played on the mighty Cathedral organ.

Programme Information

The programme will include Pilgrims' Chorus from Tannhäuser, Nessun Dorma from Turandot and Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah.
