A car accident that took place on the A361, just North of South Molton, earlier today has resulted in a member of the public being pronounced dead at the scene
The incident, involving two vehicles, also resulted in two other casualties being air lifted to hospital with serious injuries.
Police and other emergency services attended the scene, with the accident believed to have taken place at 11am.
The road is expected to be closed for some time whilst the thorough police investigation takes place.

The Environment Agency (EA) has approved a grant to cover the costs of repairs to coastal defences in Topsham. The defences at Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham, were damaged by the storms in February this year and the repair has just been finished. A large section of the coastal defence alongside the River Clyst frontage was severely damaged during the high tides and storm damage in January and February. This resulted in a breach which allowed the high tides to overtop and flow into the protected land and inland road behind it. These raised defences provide protection to the RSPB reserve at...
New regulations have come in to force which will affect almost all contracts entered by consumers purchasing goods and services.
The regulations apply to contracts made on or after 13th June 2014. These regulations mean businesses may well need to make some significant changes to their paperwork and the way they deal with customers.

Devon and Cornwall Police have reiterated their warning to football fans to have fun, but drink responsibly during this summer’s FIFA World Cup. During previous football tournaments incidents of alcohol-related violence, including domestic abuse, have increased – particularly following England games. Alcohol plays a significant factor in these incidents and people may be drinking more alcohol whilst watching the World Cup matches. East Devon District Council’s Countryside team is offering a great opportunity to find out more about dragonflies later this month.
On Sunday, 29 June, Dave Smallshire, British Dragonfly Society Trustee and co-author of Britain’s Dragonflies, will be returning to the Axe Estuary Wetlands to lead a Wildlife Training Day.
The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in dragonflies and damselflies – participants will learn how to find, capture and identify dragonflies, discover evidence of emerging specimens and hear all about their amazing lifestyles.

With 100 stunning coastal walks to choose from, the Great South West Walks 2014 is now open for bookings.
These specially selected circular walks by the South West Coast Path Association, will take place across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset from 20-28 September.
Walkers can look forward to taking part in easy and family friendly strolls as well as challenging and rough terrain treks; many of the walks have themes such as history and wildlife, mining heritage, foraging, Jurassic geology and even a barefoot hike - each guided by an expert walk leader.

The National Trust's Lydford Gorge in Devon has become the newest site to come on board as a partner for charity accessibility scheme, Countryside Mobility South West.
