This is a national celebration of the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling. The week aims to get people to give cycling a go all over the UK. Dartmoor is very popular with both on and off road cyclists and the National Park website contains important information for those enjoying the great outdoors on their bikes.

Two day Vintage wedding fair

A two day vintage wedding fair will take place at Killerton House on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 June.

The event, organised by Blue Fizz Events, will feature clothing and products from a whole host of vintage inspired wedding suppliers.

The wedding fair will take place over the weekend, beginning at 10.30am and finishing at 6.00pm.

Land train receives council support

In recognition of its potential to bring more visitors to the town, East Devon District Council has waived the rental for the first 12 months for the use and storage of the land train in The Maer car park, Exmouth.

Visitors using the land train will also benefit from reduced parking with a full day costing just £3, instead of the usual £6.

The train will run from the Maer car park on the hour calling at several places along the seafront before heading inland at the marina and calling at the bus and train station at half past each hour. It will then stop at the town centre...

Local construction company Ease Build has marked its commitment to the region’s hospitality sector by sponsoring the Exeter and Heart of Devon Hoteland Restaurants Association.

Brand new fleet for Potburys Removals

Potburys’ white and green liveried lorries will be a regular sight on the streets of Exeter and East Devon thanks to a fleet upgrade by the local Sidmouth removal firm.

Over the last three years Potburys has been steadily modernising and increasing its entire fleet of removal vehicles. The company now proudly boasts five removal lorries - two DAF LF45 7.5 tonne vehicles and three LF55 15 tonne vehicles. The newest and final addition took to the streets just a few weeks ago.

Academic report backs up Firefighters' concerns

The Fire Brigades Union has called on the government to immediately drop proposed 'unworkable' changes to firefighters’ pension schemes after an academic report on firefighter fitness backed up the concerns firefighters have been raising for three years.

Councillor Paul Diviani, leader of East Devon District Council carried out an official ribbon cutting ceremony to unveil the recently restored Withycombe House in St. John’s Road, Exmouth.

The magnificent period manor house which in later years was converted to a school by Devon County Council, has been painstakingly restored to its former glory by skilled craftsmen and converted to luxurious accommodation. The spacious homes include two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bed houses with generous gardens, set in a parkland setting.

The views of students and young adults will play an important role in the battle to cut alcohol related crime and misuse in Devon and Cornwall.
