Every district in Devon will have a specialist youth centre hub with professional staff, following a decision by Devon County Council’s Cabinet yesterday (June 11).
The eight hubs will work with the most vulnerable young people, as well as providing three open sessions for all youngsters each week and expertise for community groups which want to set up their own sessions.
There will also be extra funding to assist communities to develop their own local youth offer using council buildings and other assets.

River Cottage Chefs’ School are celebrating with the first of their apprentice chef graduates after completing an intensive 12-month programme.
The 11 ecstatic graduates were the first of 74 apprentices currently studying on the Young Chef Apprentice Scheme – a professional and personal journey that aims to equip young learners with the skills they need to enter the catering industry. Exeter’s first ever Rainbow Run on Sunday (8 June) was a resounding success.
This crazy, fun event was raising money for the Children’s Hospice South West and 1,000 participants raised an astonishing £48,000 for the charity, which has three children’s hospices in North Devon, Cornwall and North Somerset.
Held at the Exeter Racecourse, this is the first time that the Rainbow Run has taken place in Devon.
