Knightshayes, a National Trust estate near Tiverton, will be holding a host of weekly outdoor activities during the summer holidays.

There are plenty of ways children can enjoy the great outdoors at Knightshayes. With diverse grounds consisting of glorious gardens and acres of parkland and woods, Knightshayes has bags of space to explore, trees to climb, puddles to jump in and wildlife to discover - a new challenge presents itself with every twist and turn.

Inspired by the National Trust’s ‘50 things to do before you’re 11 ¾’, the activities take place every week in the summer holidays between Thursday and Saturday; and are a great way for families to enjoy a day out together, as Learning and Engagement Officer Rachael Hall explains:

‘We are very excited to be running so many ’50 things’ events over the summer period. The campaign has really captured the imaginations visitors of all ages. It’s brilliant to see families experiencing nature and the Knightshayes estate in such a creative and fun way. I can’t wait to see the magnificent dens and imaginative wild art produced by our visitors.’

Knightshayes is full of things to make a piece of wild art. Visitors can use their foraging skills between 14 – 16 August to help create a forest sculpture or make a woodland craft to take home. Drop- in sessions cost £2 per child, but normal admission applies.

The Knightshayes team will also show visitors how to build a nifty den using all things wild, collected from the woods. Take part between 21 - 23 August for £2, normal admission applies.

Visitors can also make the most of their visit by joining a free guided tour of the walled kitchen garden. Tours begin at 2pm.
