Academics from the University of Exeter and lifelong learners from the local community are celebrating a new agreement which will help them work more closely together.

Exeter U3A, a member of the University of the Third Age, and academics from the University of Exeter signed a Memorandum of Understanding at a ceremony this week.

In an exciting development for the city, Exeter College has recently launched the new Exeter School of Art – reviving more than 150 years of tradition.

Exeter based WiFi SPARK doubles workforce

WiFi SPARK, the UK’s fastest growing managed WiFi provider has doubled its workforce in just over year since relocating to Exeter.

Previously based at Heathfield just outside of Newton Abbot, the firm moved to Matford Business Park with the help of Exeter City Council, to open larger offices and new workshop space, now filled with more than 40 full time staff.

Exeter skipper Jack Yeandle says there must be a response of sorts from the Chiefs this weekend when they play host to Newcastle Falcons in the Aviva Premiership.

Rob Baxter’s side slipped to their fifth league defeat of the season on Sunday when they went down 31-27 against fellow play-off contenders Leicester Tigers at Welford Road.

Law firm launches staff profit share scheme

South West law firm Stephens Scown LLP has formally agreed a new shared ownership model with the regulators and tax authorities which could open the way for other partnerships and professional services firms to follow suit.

The scheme is a shared ownership and profit model similar to that operated by John Lewis. Stephens Scown, with over 300 staff and a turnover of £17m, is believed to be the biggest law firm to implement such a scheme.

The popular International Garden Photographer of the Year exhibition, now in its ninth year, will be at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) from 23 April 2016.

The winning photograph from each of nine categories from the 2016 competition, along with a wide selection of finalists, will be included in the exhibition at RAMM. Exmouth homes to benefit from improved flood defences

East Devon District Council is working with the Environment Agency to upgrade the sea and estuary defences in Exmouth. The proposed project will reduce the risk of flooding to over 1,000 homes in Exmouth.
