A third of people who suspect child abuse do nothing to report it, according to the Department for Education.
Many don't report their suspicions because they're worried about being wrong or that they're overreacting, the Government says. Charities in Exeter have received a cash windfall thanks to the sale of dressing items from the Rugby World Cup 2015.
A total of £1,765 was raised through the sale of Rugby World Cup 2015 City Dressing items such as banners and bunting used to promote the Tournament in Exeter. Pin badges, lanyards, mini balls and other accessories were also auctioned to raise money, all donated by England 2015, the Tournament organiser.

Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, is delighted to announce that Yvonne Amer has received the inaugural Hazel Ball volunteer of the year award.
The award bears the name of our friend and colleague, Hazel Ball, who we sadly lost in 2015. Hazel first joined our Board in 1980, and was a vocal advocate for the work of our charity throughout her career and in retirement.
Yvonne was recognised for her hard work, reliability and flexibility; and was presented with her award by Hazel’s husband, Jeff Skinner, and their daughters Lydia and Elly.

An astronomer from the University of Exeter has had the sharpest ever view of a dusty disc around an aging star 4,000 light years away which could signal a new generation of planets.
Using an intensely powerful telescopic system at an observatory in Chile Dr Jacques Kluska, an associate research fellow in the department of Physics and Astronomy, and fellow scientists on a pan-European team, were able to get the clearest view so far of the star and compare discs around young and old stars for the first time.

A regional programme designed to help women develop their digital skills and improve business practice, has culminated with a conference in Exeter.
And fittingly, the Love Digital event took place at Exeter Library on Tuesday - International Women’s Day.

Police are urging the public to be vigilant after a number of shoppers have been targeted by thieves in supermarket car parks across Devon and Cornwall.
While the victims, in some cases elderly women, have purchased goods in a supermarket or used a cash point a suspect has watched them enter their PIN number.
When the victims have returned to their vehicles, they have been approached by someone asking for directions to the nearest hospital or similar location. While the victim is being distracted, someone else has got into their vehicle and stolen their bank cards.
