Police are appealing for witnesses following a violent assault on a 33-year-old man.

The incident took place at temporary traffic lights on Blundell’s Road, Tiverton, around 6pm on Wednesday 14 September 2016.

A lone man was believed to be assaulted with a hammer by five men as he sat in his van at traffic lights.

The five men, who are believed to have been known to the victim, then made off in a dark blue Rover towards Halberton.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a two car collision that left two people in hospital.

At around 5.25pm on Friday 26th August, Police were informed of a head-on collision between a red Skoda Fabia and a blue Ford Mondeo. This took place just past the Bolham roundabout, prior to the A361 crossing the Mill Leat and the River Exe the carriageway.

The Skoda was heading from the direction of Barnstaple towards Tiverton; the Mondeo was heading in the opposite direction.

Another year of excellent GCSE results for Blundell’s pupils

Blundell’s School announces another excellent set of GCSE results with more than a quarter of grades at A*, a position that equals the school’s best ever results of last year.

From a large and able group of pupils, once again more than half the grades were at A*/A Level and, in an improvement on last year, more than a third of the year group ( 31 pupils) gained at least 8 A* and A grades.

Blundell's Road closed for five days

Road users are being reminded that Blundell’s Road in Tiverton is closed to through traffic for five days from today (Monday 22 August).

The closure is needed to carry out essential resurfacing as part of road safety and traffic calming improvements to reduce speeds and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road.

Blundell’s School continues to be deliver excellent results at A Level with some very strong results achieved by pupils in both the Upper and Lower Sixth. In the Upper Sixth (Year 13) of 97 pupils, 41% of the results gained were at A*/A with 23 pupils gaining 3 A grades or higher and over two thirds of all grades were between A* and B. The A Level pass rate was 99%. The Lower Sixth (Year 12) gained the best AS results ever at Blundell’s: from a cohort of 107 pupils, one third of the pupils gained A grades with 75% of the grades at A-C and a 95% pass rate. Vulnerable men assaulted in Tiverton

Police are investigating an allegation of assault on two men with learning disabilities and their male carer in Tiverton.

The assault took place in People’s Park between 2.30-3pm on Wednesday 3rd August and it is believed that this was witnessed by several members of the public.

It’s alleged that a group of teenagers who had been in the park made a number of offensive comments towards the men with learning disabilities.
