Police appeal for witnesses to hammer attack

Police are appealing for witnesses following a violent assault on a 33-year-old man.

The incident took place at temporary traffic lights on Blundell’s Road, Tiverton, around 6pm on Wednesday 14 September 2016.

A lone man was believed to be assaulted with a hammer by five men as he sat in his van at traffic lights.

The five men, who are believed to have been known to the victim, then made off in a dark blue Rover towards Halberton.

A 21-year-old man from Tiverton and a 23-year-old also from Tiverton, have been arrested in connection with the incident and await questioning.

Police wish to speak to anyone who saw the incident to contact them immediately.
