Exeter gets moving for Children’s Hospice SW

Princesshay’s Bedford Square will burst into life on Saturday 15th July, from 11am to 3pm with a Dancing in the Streets event raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The brainchild of talented local choreographer Mandi Cox of Vibes Dance Company, Dancing in the Streets encourages people to take to the square and strut their stuff for an incredible cause.

The headline workshop is Exeter’s very own Swagga Fit, a whole new genre of fitness class created by Mandi herself. Swagga takes inspiration from music videos, mimicking iconic dances and moves with fitness in mind...

The sky above Princesshay’s Bedford Square is set to be transformed for 8 weeks when a flock of swifts made from recycled plastic bottles take flight as part of a jaw-dropping sculpture commissioned by the centre to celebrate its tenth birthday. Princesshay has commissioned an exciting art installation sculpture by environmental artist, Naomi Hart, as part of its tenth birthday celebrations. The sculpture will feature thousands of swift birds created by Naomi from recycled plastic bottles, collected from Princesshay stores and restaurants. Police are investigating a racially aggravated public order offence where a customer became abusive towards staff at an Exeter delicatessen

Officers were called to the incident at Chandos Deli in Princesshay on Saturday[17 June] between 12.30pm and 1pm.

A 55-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Ataxia Awareness Day in Exeter

On 15 June, the streets of Exeter were filled with people spreading the word of ‘ataxia:’ a progressive and debilitating neurological condition that affects 10,000 people in the UK.

Yesterday afternoon in Bedford Square, members of Ataxia UK’s South West Branch held an awareness stall as part of a local awareness campaign, asking the public: ‘I know what ataxia is, do you?’

Ataxia affects mobility, speech and movement. It’s progressive, and there’s no cure. Its symptoms mimic inebriation and only 10% of the population have heard of it. People with ataxia have been asked to...

Go Green with Princesshay Sustainability Day

Following the success of last year’s event, Princesshay is hosting its second Sustainable Travel Day on Wednesday 14th June to raise awareness of its continued commitment to sustainable travel and other environmental initiatives.

The event is timed to take place during National Bike Week and Love to Ride.

On the 31st May, Princesshay will team up with Active Devon to provide a day of activities and demonstrations including yoga, roller skating and dance in Princesshay square where shoppers can find out more about what’s going on in the region.

‘Heaven Sent’ sculpture arrives in Princesshay

This spring, Princesshay plays host to a large and exciting sculpture across the Easter period for three weeks.

‘Heaven Sent’, a partially complete sculpture by Exeter based artist, Simon Ruscoe, has been unveiled in Princesshay, standing on a plinth which will be specially designed to encourage the people of Exeter to support his Kickstarter campaign whilst collecting donations for NSPCC.

Apprenticeship Roadshow comes to Exeter

This year marks the 10th anniversary of National Apprenticeship Week, to celebrate, the National Careers Service is traveling across the South West on their Apprenticeship Bus Roadshow.
