Princesshay’s Bedford Square will burst into life on Saturday 15th July, from 11am to 3pm with a Dancing in the Streets event raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The brainchild of talented local choreographer Mandi Cox of Vibes Dance Company, Dancing in the Streets encourages people to take to the square and strut their stuff for an incredible cause.

The headline workshop is Exeter’s very own Swagga Fit, a whole new genre of fitness class created by Mandi herself. Swagga takes inspiration from music videos, mimicking iconic dances and moves with fitness in mind.

Mandi Cox said: “There is nothing quite like Swagga. The class has people dancing like no one is watching, it’s all about having fun. I am so excited to be hosting this event again. Last year was incredible, you couldn't see where the dancers ended and the crowds began. I am excited to invite some incredible dance schools to showcase their talent. To raise money for the Children's Hospice South West is an honour, it is such a wonderful charity and I hope we can raise as much money as possible. Bring it on."

Mandi’s style of dance fitness is ahead of the curve with recent reports of similar classes springing up across the world, where people can lose their inhibitions and just let loose. Everyone is invited to take part on the day, there is no charge but donations are invited for Children's Hospice South West.

Other workshops will include Latin-inspired class Zumba and FitSteps class from Linda Mitchell which originated from Strictly Come Dancing.

The day will include performances from talent across the city and East Devon. Including DanSci Dance Studio's Street Stars, Strut Your Stuff, Urban Flow, East Devon Dance, Freestyle Fever, Booiaka with Pixie Price and MJC Choreography.

Live music from the talented Luke Blaber will be performed throughout the day.

At 3pm the grand finale will be a dance to Ed Sheeran, Galway Girl, a huge flashmob where everyone is invited to join in. The routine can be learnt on line before hand and can be found on the Vibes website or the Facebook page.

A full line up of the event can be found on www.vibesdancecompany.co.uk or check out 'Dancing in the Sreets Festival' Facebook page.
