Festive daredevils wanted to abseil from Exeter’s Princesshay Shopping Centre

Local residents are being challenged to abseil 80 feet down the side of Princesshay Shopping Centre dressed as Santa for charity. Action for Children is seeking daredevils who will raise vital funds for the country’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families by taking part in its Advent Abseil on Saturday 30 November. A man mountain himself on the field, former Exeter Chiefs star Simon Alcott has himself been scaling new heights recently as part of a fundraising scheme for the charity Restart Rugby. Trust therapy staff bowled over by generosity of Exonia Bowling Club

Exonia Bowling Club in Exeter has donated more than £1,000 to support local people with multiple sclerosis.

Club president Kate Caldwell chose the community rehabilitation team at Mardon Neurological Centre as her charity of the year – and members helped to raise £1,105.

Kate has been receiving therapy from the team, which is part of the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust.

She praised the individualised service she had received at the centre and asked for the donation to be used to provide greater support to people with MS.

Last Sunday, 20 Devon & Cornwall police officers cycled from Exeter to London in a day in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

Their own version of a Tour of Britain stage has raised over £2,000 already, so a massive thank you to everyone who took part, as well as to all of their colleagues, friends and family who have generously donated to:
