A retrospective of two eminent artists takes place in a Devon gallery from January 15 for 11 days only.

From January 15 to January 26 Artizan Gallery in Lucius Street, Torquay will be showing a “significant collection” of linocuts by Arthur Homeshaw RWA (1933–2011) and abstract architectural paintings by Richard Slater RI.

Launched in 2010, Jerwood Makers Open is a biennial opportunity focusing on UK makers who propose to make ambitious, radical work in their first years of practice.

Five artists, Sam Bakewell, Juli Bolaños-Durman, Jessica Harrison, Marcin Rusak and Laura Youngson Coll, were selected from 271 submissions.

Each received grants to develop and tour new work in a diverse range of materials. Exhibits incorporate chainsaw-carved wood, parian porcelain, repurposed glass, organic waste, vellum and fish skin.

Visible Girls: Revisited, is a photography commission and national travelling exhibition of female portraits by photographer Anita Corbin. The exhibition brings together original images of women from different subcultures of the early 1980s and newly commissioned portraits of the same women now.

The work will reunite women with their adolescent selves, exploring the ways in which photography can reveal and reflect upon identity and society at various stages of women's lives.

Art with a laugh: Devon artist launches ‘WooHoo’, an art exhibition with a difference

An Exmouth-based painter who likes to have fun is bringing something new to Devon

in March 2018. Artist Anna FitzGerald is launching ‘WooHoo’, an exhibition focussed on art and performance which she describes as a 'week-long giggle'.

Anna is funding this non-profit-making exhibition herself and hopes the week willbring delight to everyone who visits. She is looking for artists and performers keen to raise a smile.

Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival

Sunday 10th December is your last chance in 2017 to see the Crediton Parish Church decorated with over 70 trees by locals groups and businesses.

Following Communion at 9.30am, the Festival opens at 11am, and the Cafe in the adjacent Boniface Centre at 2pm for food and drinks.

Apart from the wonderful trees, there will be guided tours of the Governors Room and Bell Tower.

The Cafe and Festival close at 5pm, after which the Crediton Parish Church Choir will entertain you with a Concert at 6pm.

Saturday 9th December is the 3rd day of the Crediton Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival. Admission is FREE and there are over 70 Trees decorated by local schools, guilds, clubs, groups and businesses.

The very interesting and informative Tours of the Governors Room will be conducted at 12noon and the Bell Tower at 2pm.

The Cafe in the adjacent Boniface Centre opens at 10am for food and drink and the Festival opens at 10.30am until 7pm.

307 Squadron Day in Exeter

307 Squadron Project invite you to a number of important events taking place in Exeter on Wednesday 15th November (307 Squadron Day) to honour the Polish 307 Squadron.

307 Squadron, part of the RAF, were night-fighters who fought the Luftwaffe over the skies of Britain and prevented Exeter from being totally destroyed during the blitz on the city in 1942.

This year is the 75th anniversary of when the squadron presented the city of Exeter with the Polish flag on 15th November 1942 in a sign of international cooperation.
