More than 70 take part in Fun A Day show in Exeter on March 18 and 19

Over 70 people have risen to the Fun A Day challenge in Exeter, and now you can see the results at Positive Light Projects in Sidwell Street on 18th-19th March.

The challenge was to create something every day for throughout February (draw, paint, photograph, colour, bake, whatever and then exhibit your creations at the special exhibition run by local residents Stephen Fisher and Ali Lucas. The initiative has won the support of Exeter University and Exeter City Council.

To mark the tragic anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the country’s nine-year war for independence, Maketank, Exeter’s cultural laboratory, and the Devon Ukrainian Association are presenting an exhibition of frontline photography by Vlada and Kostiantyn Liberov.

Among the first civilians to enter Ukraine’s north-eastern Kharkiv region just behind the successful counteroffensive that forced the Russian military to retreat, the Liberovs have seen with their own eyes the horrors of this war and the joy of ‘liberated’ Ukrainians.

Reused, recycled, reborn: New exhibition at Killerton explores how circular fashion from the past can inspire what we wear today 

‘Thirsty for Fashion’ a new exhibition at Killerton house just outside Exeter, will showcase over 50 items from the National Trust’s largest fashion collection, highlighting pieces that demonstrate the techniques used to repair, remodel, reuse and rewear clothing from the 18th century to the present day.

The exhibition, running from 11 February to 5 November, will also feature some of the ways contemporary designers and makers are rethinking our approach to fashion as our collective understanding of the environmental impact of the fashion industry grows.

Visitors are invited to a fascinating exhibition on the 14th of December which debuts original artworks created by undergraduate students from the University of Exeter’s Academy of Nursing.

Members of the public can learn about the history and science behind the life-changing Exeter Hip in a talk at Exeter’s largest museum.

The Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM) will play host to people interested in learning about the Exeter Hip which has transformed the lives of millions of people for over half a century. The talk will take place on December 6, between 6.30 and 8.30pm.

Major exhibition on Devon’s links with transatlantic slavery to open at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery in January 2022

Exeter City Council’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM) has announced a major new exhibition exploring the museum and Devon’s links with the Transatlantic Slave Trade in early 2022.

In Plain Sight: Transatlantic slavery and Devon will investigate aspects of Devon and Exeter’s relationship with the Transatlantic Slave Trade that are all around us, but for some remain ‘hidden in plain sight’. Using RAMM’s collections and the expertise of many contributors, it aims to shed light on this hidden history.
