Make a difference by volunteering with Diabetes UK in 2021

Diabetes UK’s friendly and very active Exeter group are looking to recruit more volunteers to take on two important and currently ‘virtual’ roles.

Full training and support are available for creative and enthusiastic people who would like to get involved either in fundraising, to help raise money for local diabetes research, or in organising peer support for the group.

Both roles are key to supporting people living with diabetes and also offer the volunteer an excellent opportunity to learn new skills.

Vehicle conversions and workplace outfitting firm bott has chosen to go electric with the order of a new Kia e-Niro electric car.

The University of Exeter has distributed £1m in hardship and emergency funding to students most significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

New research shows employees in Exeter are the most eager to get back to an office in 2021, once lockdown has ended and restrictions ease.

Despite COVID-19 cases skyrocketing in the country, an analysis of search data found employees in Exeter are the most fed up of working from home and are eagerly seeking an escape from their new way of working during the pandemic.

SHOPWORKERS are being encouraged to transfer their skills to care by one of Exeter’s providers as analysts predict there will be more than 200,000 retail job losses nationwide in 2021 (January 2021).

LGBTQIA communities to help create new Exeter play showing history of loneliness and exclusion

A new play co-created by people living in the South West – due to be performed in Exeter – will show the long history of LGBTQIA loneliness and marginalisation.

Mistreatment and exclusion from society has meant LGBTQIA communities have created their own spaces for solidarity, creativity, and dialogue. Dr Charlotte Jones and Dr Fred Cooper, from the University of Exeter, will work with organisations and individuals in Devon and Cornwall to develop and stage the new production, as well as to discuss the endemic issue of LGBTQIA exclusion.

Exeter boy donates presents to less fortunate children

A PUPIL at an Exeter Primary School who opted to donate presents to children less fortunate, on his birthday, rather than receiving them himself has been presented with a Certificate of Thanks.

Eight-year-old Kai Errington, who attends Westclyst Community Primary School, not only gave all his presents away, but some of his school friends also supported him and donated presents as well.

New faces at family law firm
