A team of Exeter Junior School pupils has beaten off strong competition from pupils much older than themselves in a mind boggling competition. Team Omega, made up of Tom Harris-Deans, Bertie Hawkins and James Waddington, took part in the Alan Turing Cryptography Competition aimed at secondary school children up to year 11. Exeter School's international success

Exeter School pupils have certainly made the most of their Easter holidays with six representing their country in sport from water polo to rounders.

Year 11 Ben Green is representing England U17s in cricket and is currently on tour in Sri Lanka. Ben has had good success in the one-day series and has previously just been selected for the three-day game which began on 24 April. At the end of the one-day series, he was the leading wicket taker on tour and the fourth highest run scorer.

Exeter School pupils' charity concert

For the 13th year running, Exeter School musicians and singers will be performing a special charity concert next week to raise funds for international charity WaterAid. The concert will take place on Wednesday 7 May, at St David's Church in Exeter, at 7.30 pm.

Proceeds from this concert will go directly to WaterAid's projects in Zambia, where the funds will help some of the country's poorest communities gain access to clean water and safe sanitation.

Double Devon Cup Rugby success

Never before has Exeter School played rugby in April but after the appalling winter the U16 and U15 Devon Cup Finals were played on Wednesday (2 April) at Topsham Rugby Club.

Although it was Exeter School's hockey term, the teams trained for a fortnight leading up to the final and soon honed their rugby skills and fitness.

On the night, the U15 faced a formidable Coombeshead team to whom they had lost in the semi-finals last year. The game started at high tempo and it was clear to see it would be an extremely physical encounter.

Sixth former aims to build awareness of dementia and Alzheimer's

An Exeter School pupil has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café in their efforts to fundraise and build awareness around dementia and Alzheimer's.

Sixth Former Richard Baker has been supporting the Honiton Memory Café because he enjoys helping others. He has attended some of the social events that the Memory Café runs for carers and their cared-for and is helping to publicise a charity art auction that is taking place at the Thelma Hulbert Gallery (THG) on Friday 25 April to raise funds.

Local primary schools take part in Cool Maths Week

School children from Stoke Hill Junior School, Clyst Hydon Primary School, Chagford Primary School, Sidmouth Primary School, St Michael's Church of England Primary School and The Duchy School joined Exeter Junior School pupils in an entertaining 'Cool Maths Show' held at Exeter School on Tuesday 11 March as part of 'Maths Week 2014'.

Former Exeter School alumnus wins BP Ultimate Field Trip 2014

2011 leaver, Christopher Clay, and his team mates Talbot Kingsbury and Jan Paszkiewicz from Oxford University, impressed the judges from BP, the guest judge, Richard Parker from Rolls Royce, and celebrity host Clare Balding with their approach to the international challenge.

The team 'I Challenge You to a Joule' worked on the problem of energy companies consuming large amounts of energy in running their operations, rising to the challenge of identifying an innovative solution that will significantly reduce energy consumption in the future.

Local author visits Exeter School

Exeter School welcomed a visit from Exmoor author and farmer, Victoria Eveleigh, on World Book Day.

Victoria's visit coincided with the launch of her latest book, 'Joe and the Race to Rescue'.

She was joined by her husband Chris who illustrates her delightful horse stories for boys and girls aged 8 - 13.

Victoria gave a talk to senior and junior pupils about her work and inspiration. Exeter School pupils asked lots of interesting questions and their books were signed by the literary couple.

A real highlight of Exeter School’s musical year will be held in Exeter Cathedral this month.

The Choral Society concert takes place on Thursday 20 March 2014 at 7.30pm.

The Choral Society, comprising about 130 pupils alongside parents, staff and friends of Exeter School, will be accompanied by a full professional orchestra, with pupils taking the lion’s share of the solo work.

Exeter School artists to exhibit work at ‘Before They Were Famous’ exhibition

The art work of seven Exeter School pupils has been chosen to appear in The Marle Gallery’s “Before They Were Famous” exhibition from 8 March to 5 April 2014.

Five current GCSE and A Level Art pupils and two former pupils have been given the opportunity to see their work hung in a professional gallery.
