Devon finalists in NatWest Venus Awards, dubbed ‘The Working Women’s Oscars’, have been treated to afternoon tea at the luxurious Magdalen Chapter Hotel in Exeter. The event, which was also attended by several members of the local media, was held to give to give the finalists an opportunity to meet each other and their sponsors.
The awards were launched in March and the finalists where whittled down, by the judges and in some cases, public vote, from thousands of nominations to just 42 finalists – 12 of whom will be announced as winners at the grand awards ceremony at Exeter...
Exeter Cathedral has created a very special baby book for the people of Devon to sign to congratulate Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on the safe arrival of their baby son.
The baby book is available for people to sign from Tuesday morning, in an area just inside the Cathedral, from 9am to 4.45pm every day for the next two weeks. Once it has been signed, it will be bound in burgundy leather and will then be sent as an offering from Exeter Cathedral and the county of Devon to the Royal couple.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have become parents for the first time after giving birth to a baby boy.
The baby was delivered at 16:24 BST at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, west London, weighing 8lb 6oz.
The Duke of Cambridge was present at the birth.
The hospital issued a bulletin delivering the news to the palace. It was signed by doctor who led the medical team, the Queen's gynaecologist Marcus Setchell and carried under police escort. It said
"Her Royal Highness, the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24pm today".

Exeter Golf and Country Club has submitted a planning application to Exeter City Council for high safety netting around part of its boundary.
A development of around 25 new houses, called Great Woodcote Park, are being built by Charles Church, which is part of the Persimmon group, on a section of the golf course boundary.

Exeter Phoenix has launched its first crowd-sourced short film commission with a piece by Devon-based filmmaker Tom Austin.
The commission, which requires Austin to receive the majority of his funding from the crowd sourcing website Crowdfunder.co.uk is the first of its kind by Exeter Phoenix.
