In the wake of three local incidents over the weekend where young people were hospitalised after taking so-called 'legal highs', Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg is urging all sections of the community to join forces to counter the danger posed by an increasing trade in the drugs.
The incidents, two in Exeter and one in Torquay, occurred just days after Mr Hogg confronted staff at a ‘head shop’ in Barnstaple where legal highs were on sale.
"I wanted to ask the staff in the shop if they actually knew what it was they were selling and how dangerous it is." he said....
Councillors attended a meeting on 12 August with representatives of the RD&E and highway officers of Devon County Council to discuss hospital parking.
The RD&E is working with the County Council to produce a travel plan intended to reduce the number of hospital staff, patients and visitors who use on-street parking in Wonford.
Some improvements are already taking place with 107 parking spaces being brought back into use after the recent building work and negotiations underway to obtain a further 130 spaces offsite.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager had his teeth knocked out during an assault in Sidmouth at the weekend. The incident happened at around 1am on Saturday 10 August in Ham Lane. The lane, by Sidmouth swimming pool, leads up to the sea front and esplanade. The 16-year-old boy who was assaulted was kicked in the face and his upper two front teeth were completely knocked out.
