Quality and Partnership are the key themes in speeches from lead organisations at the annual Devon Care Training conference, this year titled What I do Matters.

Care providers and commissioners of care are gathering to share best practice, successes and challenges of working in a constantly changing market place where only those that adapt their businesses to provide tailor-made care will survive.

Care agencies from across the south west are invited to attend the What I Do Matters conference at the University of Exeter on Friday 13 September.

The conference is the largest free event in the yearly calendar for care providers to gather to discuss their business and share ideas.

Two speakers of national note: Alan Rosenbach, Special Policy Lead to CEO at Care Quality Commission, and Professor Martin Green - Chief Executive of the English Community Care Association will deliver speeches around the main conference themes, along with Alan Earle of the South West Grid for Learning who will talk about safeguarding children in the context of social media and the internet.

This year there is also a strong focus on dementia, with various workshops tackling different topics such as leadership, relationships, research and Dementia Friendly Communities.

Other workshops feature topics as diverse as housing options, end of life care and community life choices there should be something of interest and value to anyone working in the Care and Support sector.

Conference organiser, Devon Care Training has hosted the event for the last ten years. This is the first year the conference has taken place at the University and will take advantage of the recent £50 million redevelopment of the conference facilities – including state of the art auditorium and seminar rooms.

All of this plus many exhibitors and award winning catering!  The conference runs from 9am-4pm.
