Police in Teignmouth are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in the leg in the town.

At around noon on Sunday 25 August, on the area of Clampitt Lane, a 32-year-old man received a serious knife wound to his leg in the assault.

The victim, who lives in Paignton, received treatment for the wound at Torbay Hospital before being later discharged.

A 55-year-old man from Teignmouth was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, interviewed and later released on police bail until 3 October 2013.

Investigating officer DC Chris Empson said: “Police are now appealing for witnesses. Anyone who was in the area and who may have seen two males fighting or arguing between the Co-op and Clampitt Lane and Fore Street at around midday to please contact us.

“This was a busy summer bank holiday weekend and there would have been a lot of people in the area at the time of the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to please call police on 101, quoting police ref JG/13/1604.
