Increasing Concern for Missing Honiton Man

Police are becoming increasingly concerned as to the welfare and whereabouts of a man who has been missing from the Honiton area since April 4. Damian Hart, aged 38, is from the Feniton area of Honiton and is described as being 6' 2" tall, of medium to large build with short, dark brown hair and tatoos on both arms. He normally has stubble growth. He was reported missing by a family member on Saturday afternoon after going out to a local pub in Feniton at around 8pm on the Friday night. Police are becoming increasingly concerned for Damian all efforts to trace him have been unsucessful....

Arboretum Talk Inspires Students

Students at Bicton College this week welcomed a renowned expert in his field, Hugh Angus, to give a talk on ‘How to set up an Arboretum’.

Mr Angus, former Curator and Head of Collections at the Forestry Commission National Arboretum (Westonbirt), now consults for the Sidmouth Arboretum which was launched in 2012. The civic arboretum at Sidmouth is a collection of trees and plants within private and public land in the jurisdiction of Sidmouth Town Council. Former West Exe Head Tribunal

A former head teacher of an Exeter Technology College, who was paid a salary three times more than the average head, will appear in front of a professional conduct hearing today.

The hearing by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) will consider if Steve Maddern, the former head of West Exe Technolgy College, is responsible for bringing the profession into disrepute.

Thousands watch LV=Cup Parade

Thousands flocked to Exeter High Street to watch Exeter Chiefs players take part in a victory parade.

Exeter's favourite players posed for photographs with fans before jumping aboard an open top bus provided by Stagecoach.

The parade was organised to celebrate the Chiefs victorious triumph over the Northampton Saints during the LV=Cup final.

As well as meeting fans the players also took part in a civic reception with the Lord Mayor of Exeter in the Guildhall on Saturday.

Local students to form sustainable projects in new hands-on course

Local community projects are to be recognised as model sustainable development initiatives in a new course offered by Bicton College at Dartington.

This all-new NCFE Level 1 Award in Sustainable Development from Bicton College is scheduled to start on Tuesday 22nd April. It will be a 10 week course, 4 hours per session, every Tuesday with a break for half-term. It is free to anyone over 19 and looking for work, and available to anyone else for a course fee of £250.

Volunteers give mill a makeover

Exeter’s only working mill has been undergoing a recent renovation. A team of volunteer millers have used traditional techniques to make the waterwheel run more efficiently.

Cricklepit Mill stands close to Exeter’s historic Quayside and dates back to the 19th Century with some parts of the building dating from the 1600s. It was once a mill containing several waterwheels producing flour, animal feeds and woollen cloth.
