The Artisans are a lively band of four young musicians who bring Medieval and Renaissance music bang up to date. The group comprises Emily Askew on vielle, recorders, bagpipes, percussion and shawm; Hazel Askew, voice and medieval harp; Sarah Stuart, percussion and vielle; and Victoria Couper, voice. Each band member brings experience from a diversity of musical genres, including folk, world and early music and it is this background that allows them to create fresh and exciting interpretations of ancient music, while remaining true to its historical origins.
The flute and the harp have long been recognised by composers as a sublime combination with a strong visual and aural impact. So Concerts in the West is delighted to be offering West Country audiences a superb example of just such a partnership in the shape of Flautist Katherine Bicknell and concert harpist Keziah Thomas, who have been playing together since 1998 as the Aoyama Duo. The body of a missing 59-year-old man was found near Lyme Regis this afternoon following a search by East Devon coastguards.
The man is thought to have fallen overboard while on the water sometime today
The search launched around 1pm today saw all Lyme Bay coastguard teams including Exmouth Coast Guard and Sidmouth Lifeboat attempt a search for missing man.
As of 2:30 pm the search was stood down following the discovery of the body on a beach near Lyme Regis.

Cybercriminals have come up with a new scheme to trick Facebook users into handing over their credentials. They’ve launched a bogus voting campaign to lure potential victims to a phishing site.
According to experts from Symantec, the phishers have set up a bogus voting website where they ask users the question “Who is greater boys or girls?” Once they cast their vote, internauts are asked to log in to their Facebook accounts and say if they’re male or female.

East Devon District Council is asking for help from the public about two serious fly tipping incidents in the Exmouth area.
The first was dumped asbestos and the other was multiple bags of dog mess that were left by a dog waste bin.
Both cases are quite unusual and officers can take enforcement action against the culprits if they can be identified. Fixed penalty notices are one option, but council officers can also prosecute if it feels that the fixed penalty is an inadequate remedy.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to a serious collision on the outskirts of Honiton at around 12.30pm today (7 April 2014). Four vehicles, a Mercedes, Lexus, Fiesta and a recovery vehicle were involved in the incident on the A35 between Honiton and Wilmington. A female passenger from the Fiesta has been taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital with life threatening injuries. The road is closed in both directions while investigations take place at the scene. Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 quoting reference 251 of 7th April.
Exeter YMCA is proud to receive the High Sheriff Award for Services to the Community
John Lee, the High Sheriff for Devon, first visited Exeter YMCA earlier this year. He had a tour of their projects, met with many of the clients to hear how Exeter YMCA had helped transform their lives and heard presentations on their work in prisons, through Job Clubs and in schools.
