Exeter woman running London Marathon

A woman from Exeter is running the London Marathon on 13th April to raise awareness of the most common cancer in the under 30s.

Sam Hill, 27, chose to take part in the Marathon to raise money for the Lymphoma Association – a charity that supports people affected by lymphoma, the UK’s fifth most common cancer – and awareness of lymphatic cancer.She said:

An egg box results in emergency call out

Firefighters were last night ( Saturday 5th April) called to a property in Whipton Village Road after a cardboard egg box, that had been left on a hob, caught on fire.

One fire appliance from Middlemoor was initially sent to reports of an automatic fire alarm activating at this premises.

Crews arrived at 8.14pm and confirmed that there had been a small fire involving a cardboard egg box that had been left on top of a hob.

The fire was out on arrival, crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to ventilate the property.

The cause was accidental.

Police looking to locate missing man from Paignton

Devon and Cornwall Police are looking to locate a Paignton man named Colin Gendall who has not been seen since Sunday 30th March 2014.

Friends of Colin have reported him missing and are keen to check on his welfare. Colin Gendall is a 53 year old male described as a white male of heavy build with short grey hair and a beard. He has panther type tattoos on both forearms.

Exeter Chiefs can today confirm the official plans for today’s Open Top bus journey for the squad following their recent LV= Cup triumph over Northampton Saints.

At the kind request of the Lord Mayor Cllr Rachel Lyons and Exeter City Council, the Chiefs will parade the LV= Cup through the city before then taking part in a civic reception at the Guildhall.
