Dementia is set to be the 21st century's biggest killer. But awareness and understanding remains low and many families are facing it alone.
People with dementia and their carers talk about the everyday challenges they face in living well with dementia. Although help from health and care services is vitally important, making it possible for people affected by dementia to live well will require help from people and organisations in their communities.
“That is where we come in” says Gina Awad of the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance (EDAA). “EDAA is a group of passionate people...
An Exeter infants school is providing a good quality of education and enjoying swift improvements under a new management team, according to independent education inspectors. Whipton Barton Infants and Nursery was judged to be a good school when inspectors last visited in 2013. Now - four years later - a new inspection by the school standards agency Ofsted concludes that Whipton Barton is continuing to provide a good education but also undergoing swift improvement. It comes as the school announces it will be doubling its successful nursery and extending the age range and opening hours. The...
Resilience has always been one of the strongest traits of the UK’s economy; it is a trait that we see again and again, especially now that the economy is dealing with the impact of Brexit. After seeing a steep decline after the decision to exit the EU was announced, the pound has been seen trading above the $1.29 mark again.
The reason behind this sudden pop is the release of the UK’s manufacturing index or PMI. There are some great signs to be discovered from this hike, particularly in the manufacturing sector and the future of the economy as a whole.
Planning for a big themed party can get stressful and take months of careful preparation. Between finding a suitable venue that’s available on the right date, hiring a reliable events’ organiser to set up the place, and booking a reputable caterer, many will just give up. However, Exeter does offer several events that take the stress out of the planning, with themes ranging from the roaring 20s to casino parties.

Construction is about to begin on a brand new Community Hub for Topsham, one of the area’s most important buildings of recent years - and the organisation behind it is seeking volunteers to help champion its work and plan how it will develop.
The new hub, being built on the site of the former ‘pre-fab’ Topsham library, aims to be the pride of the local community.
It will be the base for many of the services provided by the Estuary League of Friends, a long-standing and much-loved charity serving the town and communities stretching from Countess Wear to Exmouth.
