Top marks for Mid Devon school

PUPILS and staff at Kentisbeare Primary School are celebrating after receiving a gold award for their outdoor learning programme – the only school to achieve the accolade in the Devon.

The school, which is near Cullompton, was awarded gold in the recent Learning Outside the Classroom awards.

And the prestigious honour comes hot on the heels of the school achieving a recent glowing Ofsted report and being placed as the ninth best primary school in Devon in the Primary Real Schools Guide.

Tea Party celebrates Disability Arts

CEDA is celebrating artistic achievements with a tea party – and all the cups and saucers have been created as part of the Total Immersion arts project.

Ceramic artist Emily Parr has been working with CEDA members to create cups, saucers, plates and other ceramic objects as part of the two-year multi-media arts project funded by Arts Council England.

Working with more than ten artists over two years, Total Immersion is using sound, space and touch to create immersive sensory experiences for CEDA’s members and other disabled people.

POLPO - you have four yeses!

It is the wont of the restaurant reviewer to over indulge.

Starter, main, dessert, wine and coffee for two is the minimum expectation.

But not everyone has the time, or budget, for a three-course meal.

And so it was when this reviewer booked a table at Exeter’s newest restaurant, the Venetian-inspired Polpo.

We were looking for good food, nothing too heavy, served promptly for around £12 a head.

Peter Bennett retires from Gilbert Stephens LLP

Gilbert Stephens has announced the retirement of Peter Bennet from the Firm’s service on Thursday 20th April after and long and successful career in the legal profession.

Peter was born, raised and educated in Exeter. In 1976 he became a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and subsequently in 1993 he was a founder member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Police appeal for help in tracing local man

Police are keen to locate a 25 year old man from Honiton known as Josh Richards (see image) who officers believe may be able to provide some information that could help with their enquiries relating to two separate offences that took place last year.

Detectives would like to know his whereabouts so they can speak to him in connection with the theft of a car from Ottery St Mary in November and a burglary in Honiton that took place in October.

Josh is known to have links in Axminster, Torquay and Ottery St Mary.

Exeter City Men’s Disability Team secured victory in The FA People’s Cup in partnership with BBC Get Inspired this weekend and got their dream ticket to the Emirates FA Cup Final in the process.

The team’s journey started as one of over 6,000 teams to sign up, and they competed in the first round in February. They then progressed through their regional semi-final to qualify for the national final in Birmingham.
