Topsham Library opens to the public

Topsham Library is now open to the public in its new temporary home.

The library has been temporarily relocated to the Nelson Close Community Centre whilst a new Community Hub, which will include a new library space, is built on the former library site by the Estuary League of Friends.

The Library won’t be able to offer WiFi or access to public PC’s initially, but these services should resume by the end of June.

Topsham Library, run by Libraries Unlimited, will operate from the temporary premises whilst the building work takes places and will continue to offer all...

Exeter City's grandstand seats go up for sale

EXETER City supporters will have the opportunity to own a historic piece of their beloved club when work starts this summer on a new grandstand at St James Park.

Around £3.5million worth of improvements are scheduled at the ground over the coming year. At the centre of this work will be the demolition of the Old Grandstand, which is sponsored by Stagecoach, and is the oldest structure at the ground, dating back to 1926.

The football club is working with Exeter City Council, which owns the stand, to give fans the opportunity to buy seats before it is demolished.

Free microchipping for pets in Exeter

It's now compulsory that your dog should be micro chipped.

Statistics (we like statistics) show that there are around 1.8 million dogs not chipped which makes them untraceable if they go missing. You just need to look on this site www.doglost.co.uk to see how common and frequent dogs do go missing.

As well as dogs going missing we also get the occasional dog that's been dumped, again having it legally chipped will help us ID the animal and owner.

Honiton man charged with murder

Detectives have charged Keith Beviss, aged 54 from Honiton with the murder of Philip Ryan aged 55 who was from Westward Ho!

This development follows the police discovering the body of Mr Ryan at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Dowell Street in Honiton at around 3.50pm on Tuesday 6 June 2017.

Beviss is due to appear at Exeter Magistrates’ Court at 10am this morning (Thursday 8 June 2017).

Police are appealing to help find missing man Paul Whatley from Exeter.

Paul was last seen by a member of his family at his home address on Topsham Road around 3am on Tuesday 6 June.

Paul is described as a white, 53-years-old, of slim build, 5’ 9” tall, thought to be wearing navy blue jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

He is believed to be in the Dawlish/Exeter area. He may have been in the Dawlish town centre and seafront area during the day.

Anyone that has seen Paul or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall police on 101...

Flybe announces £6.7m loss

Exeter-based airline Flybe has announced a pre-tax loss of £6.7m.

Despite the fall, the company's new chief executive Christine Ourmiere-Widener, said the budget airline had started the new financial year well and will soon begin to cut capacity as leases on its existing aircraft end.

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, said this will allow the management team to concentrate on profitable routes.

Approval for proposed A382 improvements

Plans to improve the A382 near Drumbridges have been approved by Devon County Council.

The Council’s Development Management Committee today (Wednesday 7 June) agreed proposals for an upgrade to the route to Newton Abbot which will improve journey times and safety.

The scheme will involve straightening the alignment of the road, widening the section from Trago Mills to White Hills Cross and developing a section of dual carriageway between Drumbridges and the Trago Mills Roundabout.
