Police celebrate 50 year anniversary with time capsule burial

Today, Friday 30 June 2017, Devon and Cornwall Police marked an end to their 50 year anniversary celebrations by burying a time capsule which will remain underground for 50 years.

The time capsule was in aid of the Force’s 50 year anniversary following its amalgamation in 1967 when Plymouth Constabulary, Devon Constabulary and Cornwall Constabulary came together to form Devon and Cornwall Police.

Tickets on sale for Classics Galore!

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (July 1) for another Classics Galore! concert at the University of Exeter Great Hall on Saturday November 18.

It’s the sixth time this popular gala event has been staged in aid of FORCE Cancer Charity.

As well as providing superb entertainment, Classics has now raised nearly £70,000 for FORCE.

The profits from this year’s concert will be set aside for new equipment that is advancing the treatment of women with cancer at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Revised schedule continues on Sunday Dartmoor service

Rail services on the Okehampton Sunday Dartmoor Service will continue to operate with a revised schedule until further notice.

Track speed restrictions remain in place between Coleford Junction and Okehampton, which requires the amended timetable.

The Summer Sunday Services, run by Great Western Railway (GWR) and funded by Devon County Council, will also continue to start and terminate at Exeter St Davids rather than Exeter Central.

Police appeal after unprovoked attack on teenager in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses to an unprovoked assault where four young men targeted a 17-year-old boy in Exeter.

The teenager was on his bicycle in Pinhoe Road on Monday lunchtime [26 June] when he was set upon by a group of similar aged boys by Polsloe Bridge.

The offenders repeatedly punched and kicked the Exeter boy after knocking him to the ground.

One of them then attempted to steal the bicycle, which was damaged during the incident, before they all ran off towards Hamlyn Lane Playing Fields.
