Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed overnight on Thursday (2 November).

The road will be closed from 8.30pm in order to enable surfacing work to be carried out and for the last sections of guardrail to be installed. It will re-open at 5.30am the following morning (Friday 3 November). The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. A probation service officer from Exeter has been shortlisted for a major national award.

Laura Greenhill, 47, has been shortlisted for a Butler Trust Award, which recognises and celebrates outstanding dedication, skill and creativity by people working in prisons, probation and youth justice settings across the UK.

The recognition is a result of Laura’s hard work to deliver and develop probation work at the city’s recently refurbished CoLab community and wellbeing hub at Wat Tyler House in King William Street.

A kennel owner has been prosecuted by East Devon District Council and ordered to pay fines and costs of more than £4,000 after a dog staying at the kennels escaped from its pen and was killed by another dog.

Paul Sparks, the owner of Barn Close Kennels in Combe Raleigh, Honiton, pleaded guilty to five offences under the Animal Welfare Act 2006 and the Animal Boarding Establishments Act and was sentenced by Exeter Magistrates on Monday October 30. Barn Close Kennels is licensed as an Animal Boarding Establishment by East Devon District Council.

Wronged pensioners call on PM and Pensions Minister for change in law

A group of pensioners who have been left severely out of pocket because of a legal loophole are calling on the Prime Minister and Pensions Minister for a change in the law.
