The British Red Cross in Devon has launched a campaign to recruit hundreds of volunteers willing to drop everything during a major emergency to help people in crisis in their own community.

When disaster hits, ‘Community Reserve Volunteers’ will form a practical taskforce, working as a team to do anything from filling sandbags to sorting food for their community.

Police appeal after Ebford burglary

Police are appealing for information following a burglary to a residential property in Ebford.

The incident took place on Old Ebford Lane near Exeter on the 19th October between 9am-5pm.

Numerous items of jewellery and cash were stolen; damage was also caused to a rear patio door.

A leopard brooch 9ct sapphire spots ruby eyes diamond collar, and a solid heavy Ankh 14kt gold with chain were both taken.

Devon announces Pothole Action Fund repair schemes

More than £3 million of Pothole Action Funding is to be used to fund over 250 road repair schemes across Devon.

Devon County Council has announced the roads which will be repaired using its £3.192 million allocation from the government. Most of the work will be patching, but resurfacing work will also be carried out. To ensure the funding is spent in the areas of most need, the funding allocations have been determined using pothole frequency data. RD&E and UNISON reach interim deal on porters’ shift working

Porters’ strike action planned at the RD&E this weekend has been called off after UNISON and the Trust secured an interim agreement.

Both parties have held constructive talks this week, brokered by the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS), following a dispute over proposals to introduce 12 hour shifts for porters.
