Simpkins Edwards: reaction to Autumn Budget 2017

Adrian Hemmings, partner at Simpkins Edwards LLP, commented: “The Chancellor’s Autumn Budget contained no big announcements on spending cuts or tax rises. Even the expected rise in diesel car taxation, which will hurt individuals, will do little to convince owners to change their vehicle. Instead, today’s Budget was all about putting money into projects and the regions. Sadly, there was no mention of the South West. Instead, the Midlands Engine, Northern Powerhouse, Ireland, Wales and Scotland all received notable funds. “What was abundantly clear is that this Budget was focussed on...

The first Northcott panto since 2009, it promises plenty of audience participation, live music, magic, mayhem and lots of laughter as Dick reaches the big city...

Another rough night for the Grecians

Exeter City fell to a 3-1 defeat away to Crawley Town in Sky Bet League Two.

Despite Dean Moxey putting the Grecians ahead in the first half, a leveller from Josh Payne and two goals from substitute Jordan Roberts secured the win for Harry Kewell’s side on a disappointing night for City.

Paul Tisdale made three changes to the side that were narrowly beaten by Chesterfield last weekend as Lloyd James, Kyle Edwards and Reuben Reid all came into the starting line up in place of Lee Holmes, Jayden Stockley and Liam McAlinden.

An entertaining first half saw the home side...

One team that won’t have such a problem is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City , who sit a tidy eight points clear at the top of the table after a run of frighteningly good results in the past couple of months.
