Exeter's Nightmare Before Christmas

COSTUME divas will be squaring up next weekend to see who can wear the most outlandish costume.

The fifth annual Steampunk Yule Ball:The Nightmare before Christmas will be held at the Exeter Phoenix on Saturday, December 9.

Featured acts include Victorian hip-hop artist Professor Elemental, dystopian art-rockers Babal, surreal cellist Miss Von Trapp, and The Wattingers.

As well as celebrating the weird and wonderful underworld of Exeter, the event hopes to raise awareness of homelessness and the of work local charity Exeter Community Initiatives.

Headliners & BBC6Music Favourites “Fey Pink & the Gaslight Troubadours” will be revealing their horror themed video “Psychedelic Freakshow” filmed with local artists at Poltimore House, on the outskirts of Exeter.

There will also be a motley crew of entertainers and zones within the Phoenix – including a spooky speakeasy area containing performance artists, a Steampunk Santa and Mind Magician – Marc Lobb, a dangerously deviant DJ Zone featuring DJ Louie Louie, pyrotechnic show from the devilish Hellrazer and a host of other freaky performers.
