The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

With just days to go until the Cheltenham Festival (10th-13th March), there will be no end of discussion surrounding the big events like the Gold Cup, Champion Chase and Champion Hurdle. While it’s natural that those events get the most media coverage , the nature of the festival means that great drama can be delivered from any of the 28 races. Below we have picked out four low-key events that might just steal the show. We say “low-key”, but, of course, any race at the festival is worth winning, but these four events could deliver some golden action:

Victor Dartnall’s advice to his jockey Alan Johns to ride like a sack of potatoes worked the oracle on Admiral’s Secret who won at Wincanton Racecourse yesterday.

The nine-year-old had refused to start twice in his career leading connections to re-think how they train him but he was the convincing winner of the two miles four furlongs handicap chase beating Saintemilion by two and a quarter lengths in an intriguing race where the four starters were all 9-4 co favourites.

“Everything went wrong for him and he just didn't want to race,” explained Dartnall who trains near...

Drivers/Woods

The club heads of woods clubs used to be made out of wood, hence the name, but that’s no longer the case. They are one of the most important clubs in golf as they are usually used for first shots or long...

Northampton Town 2 Exeter City 0: Match report

A first minute opener from Vadaine Oliver and Sam Hoskins’ 80th-minute penalty gave Northampton Town all three points in this Sky Bet League Two encounter.

Manager Matt Taylor reverted back to the side which travelled to Macclesfield Town in City’s previous League Two encounter - but did made one change with Tom Parkes replacing Dean Moxey in central defence.

After just 54 seconds the Grecians, rather unfortunately, found themselves behind as Northampton’s Oliver latched onto a lofted ball over the top of the back three and half-volleyed past Lewis Ward into the top corner...
