Exeter Chiefs have completed the signing of young Georgian international prop, Bachuki Tchumbadze, ahead of the 2025/26 season.

The 23-year-old front rower moves to Devon to play his club rugby outside of his native Georgia for the first time in his career.

“I really enjoy English rugby, and I’m truly honoured to have the opportunity to be a key part of the Exeter Chiefs,” Tchumbadze said.

“I’m well aware of the crucial role that forwards play in the team’s system, and I’m really looking forward to making my debut in the Premiership.”

Energy levels across the Gallagher Premiership maybe edging into the red following a relentless 15-week block of fixtures, but Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, wants his side to 'empty the tank' before getting the chance to refuel in the coming weeks.

Tomorrow's visit of Sale Sharks in the top-flight, coupled with next week's Premiership Rugby Cup semi-final against Harlequins, will bring to a head a relentless opening to the 2019/20 campaign for the Devonians.

After which, they will get a well-earned week off feet before coming together in preparation of their...

Exeter City ploughing up to automatic promotion

Flush off a 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town, Exeter City closed the point gap on Swindon Town in the Sky Bet League table. As it stands, the Grecians are on a level with the Robins (each with 53 points), but behind on goal differential. Crucially, the Grecians have a game in hand, which could very well come in handy down the stretch as the clubs continue jostling for automatic promotion.

In thwarting Grimsby last weekend, the Grecians recorded their tenth 1-0 win on the season and, in turn, their 14th clean sheet in the league, which, incidentally, marks the cleanest sheets of any of...

Match report: Grimsby Town 0 City 1

Exeter City moved level on points with Swindon Town at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table with a 1-0 victory over Grimsby Town.

Nicky Law curled home the only goal of the game, but the Grecians had to ride their luck for large parts of the game as an in-form Grimsby side hit the inside of the post and forced a number of saves from Jonny Maxted and a couple of goalline clearances from Aaron Martin.

Manager Matt Taylor made one change from the side that had beaten Cambridge United last time out, bringing in new signing Brennan Dickenson for Jayden Richardson on...

He's been taking significant chunks out of rivals across Europe ever since he arrived in Westcountry waters back in September, but Exeter's South African Shark, Jacques Vermeulen, still believes there is more to come from him as he continues to make his mark with the Chiefs.

As one of a handful of new recruits brought to Sandy Park by Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, last summer, the imposing 24-year-old forward has certainly been creating waves with his all-action displays.

Brought in on a three-year deal, Baxter once again appears to have hauled in another prized catch with...

Watching sport can ignite passion in people from all walks of life, especially if the narrative of the event in question is built upon a pre-existing rivalry. There is something compelling about seeing two old enemies face one another, whether those enemies are individual athletes or teams of skilled players.

There have been plenty of high profile rivalries over the years, so here are just a few of the most electric to go down in the history books.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur

Some of the best sporting rivalries are not those which result in the most silverware...

With the 2020 Six Nations Championship kicking off on Saturday 1st February, coaching staff are now in place and team sheets are being announced. Following the hangover from the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, four of the six nations disposed of their head coaches. One of those was France, who parted company with Jacques Brunel after almost two years in charge. His replacement? Former French scrum-half Fabien Galthié, who has a wealth of experience coaching Top 14 teams including Stade Français and Montpellier.

Following the decision to replace Brunel, Galthié was made vice...

Match report: Exeter City 2 Cambridge United 0

Exeter City extended their unbeaten league home run to seven games with a 2-0 win over Cambridge United at St James’ Park. Ryan Bowman’s close range strike coupled with Randall Williams’ effort meant the Grecians remain within touching difference of leaders Swindon Town at the top of the Sky Bet League Two table.

City boss Matt Taylor made just one change to the side that beat Forest Green in their last league outing, with Jake Taylor coming in to captain the side and replacing the suspended Nigel Atangana, who saw red in that win at the New Lawn on New Year’s Day.
