The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

The glorious parklands of Bicton Arena come under the spotlight during the second weekend of July (8-9) when its second British Eventing-affiliated horse trials take place.

Classes ranging from BE80T to open novice will be staged, attracting both grass roots riders and those riding horses that are moving up through the levels.

Measures have been implemented to ease the ground including intensive sward maintenance using the arena’s Terra Spike Verti-Drain, which has resulted in vigorous growth and deep rooting thereby allow the dense grass to have a cushion effect.

Perfect kitesurfing weather, the weekend's strong winds made for a highly competitive event. Tom Bridge – who is only 16, yet took on fully grown men in the competition - thought the conditions on the water were in his favour though, saying: "The...

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter believes his side have been handed a “fantastic” draw in this season’s European Champions Cup.

As one of the five top seeds for the 2017/18 competition, the newly-crowned Premiership champions have been pitted in Pool Three against rivals Montpellier, Glasgow Warriors and three-time winners Leinster.

All three opponents are familiar foes for the Chiefs, who will be looking to recreate their title-winning form onto the European stage when the competition gets underway in October.

“Every year you wait for the draw with both...

Chiefs fab four star in England win

A delighted Eddie Jones described England’s victory over Argentina in San Juan on Saturday as one of the best team efforts he has been associated with during his coaching career.

The Red Rose country, who included Exeter Chiefs quartet Harry Williams, Henry Slade, Jack Maunder and Don Armand (pictured) in their ranks, fought back from 31-23 down to snatch a last-gasp 38-34 victory.

Argentina replacement fly-half Juan Martin Hernandez thought he had won the first test for the Pumas with his late drop-goal, but replacement winger Denny Solomona, one of 10 new caps, went over...

Townsend keen to kick on

Stuart Townsend admits he is still coming to terms with being crowned a Premiership champion with club side Exeter Chiefs.

Having kicked off last season on the bench for loan club Cornish Pirates at Bedford’s Goldington Road, the talented scrum-half ended it by lifting English rugby’s top prize in front of a packed Twickenham crowd.

The 21-year-old was very much part and parcel of the all-conquering Chiefs outfit, who saw off rivals Wasps 23-20 in a pulsating final that went to extra time for only the second time in the competition’s history.

It capped a remarkable...

EXETER City supporters will have the opportunity to own a historic piece of their beloved club when work starts this summer on a new grandstand at St James Park.

Around £3.5million worth of improvements are scheduled at the ground over the coming year. At the centre of this work will be the demolition of the Old Grandstand, which is sponsored by Stagecoach, and is the oldest structure at the ground, dating back to 1926.

The football club is working with Exeter City Council, which owns the stand, to give fans the opportunity to buy seats before it is demolished.
