Duguid joins the Chiefs Women’s ranks

Abby Duguid has signed a contract to join Exeter Chiefs Women.

The Canadian international arrived just in time to watch her new team beat Trailfinders Women in the first round of the new PWR season.

Formerly of Loughborough Lighting, Duguid has plenty of PWR experience at both lock and in the back row.

Exeter Chiefs Women’s Steve Salvin said: “With Edel’s (McMahon) unfortunate injury ruling her out for the season, we needed to bring someone in of international class to maintain our squad depth.

“Abby is an outstanding back-five player with significant...

Van der Velden signs for the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs Women have today confirmed highly-rated Netherlands international, Linde van der Velden as the first of a number of new signings heading to Sandy Park ahead of the new season.

Van der Velden, 25, is Susie Appleby’s first new arrival and joins the Chiefs having previously played for Castricumbe in the Netherlands and, more recently, Toulouse in France.

The powerful back-row forward - who has represented her country at both 15s and 7s level - has spoken of her delight at joining the newly-formed Premier 15s club.

“I’m really excited about my move to...

The waiting is almost over. Gallagher Premiership Rugby returns to Sandy Park, but not quite how all of us remember it.

For the Exeter Chiefs, it's been a long wait - 161 days to be precise - for them to restart a campaign which, to date, has produced a formula that has not only driven them to the summit of English rugby's top flight, but has also positioned them nicely in the last eight go Europe's Champions Cup.

Tomorrow, Rob Baxter's squad return to competitive action at Sandy Park (2pm) looking to pick up from where they left off back in early March. On that occasion...

COVID 19 has had a devastating impact on charities revenues with mass event cancellations and charity shop closures. In a bid to weather the pandemic, local charity Exeter Leukaemia Fund (Elf) has been busy contacting celebrities and sports personalities with a plea for donations for their ‘Celebrity Lockdown Auction’.

Exeter Chiefs rugby stars are amongst the celebrities and sports donors with a selection of signed and worn league and national kit, from their homes. These items will feature alongside various other sport star donations including a signed shirt from footballer...

Steenson agrees contract extension at Chiefs

The cast list of Exeter’s promotion-winning heroes of 2010 may be dwindling, but one of them is at least set to extend his stay with the Chiefs for a while longer.

Long-serving fly-half Gareth Steenson has today put pen to paper on a contract extension that will allow him to see out the remainder of the 2019/20 season with the Devon club.

Like club-mate Phil Dollman, who himself agreed a similar deal last week, both will form part of Rob Baxter’s squad as they gear up for next month’s return to action in both the Gallagher Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup....

Baxter's delight as 30 agree new deals at Chiefs

The forward-thinking of Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, has today hit a new level with confirmation that he has signed 30 of his senior squad to new long-term deals at Sandy Park.

With Premiership Rugby clubs agreeing last month to cut the salary cap by £1.4m from the 2021/22 season, Baxter and the Chiefs management wasted little time in securing the future of their crown jewels, including the likes of Stuart Hogg, Jack Nowell, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Henry Slade and the Simmonds brothers, Joe and Sam.

It’s a huge statement of intent from the Devon club and...

Cordero signs for the Chiefs

Facundo Cordero is ready to hot-step his way into Sandy Park, just like older brother Santi did back in 2018, after he today agreed to join Gallagher Premiership leaders Exeter Chiefs.

On Thursday, Chiefs’ Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, teased the rugby fraternity when he said following the arrival of fellow newcomer, Jack Walsh, the following: “Jack isn’t the only newcomer coming in. Interestingly, we have another name who we will be announcing in a week or two’s time whose name will have everyone licking their lips.”

With speculation rife overnight, Baxter has today...

Walsh joins the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs have today added to their playing ranks with the capture of promising fly-half Jack Walsh.

The playmaker has agreed an initial one-year deal with the current Gallagher Premiership leaders, arriving in the Westcountry from Australia where he has been playing his club rugby at Manly Marlins.

Welcoming the 20-year-old on board, Chiefs’ Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, said: “He is one of those guys who has ended up here probably on the flip side of what was going on with COVID-19. We were looking at seeing what options were around and what would fit in and Jack...

Rowe 'overwhelmed' by support shown from Chiefs fans

Exeter Rugby Club chairman and chief executive, Tony Rowe OBE, says he has been overwhelmed by the support already shown by the club’s season ticket holders during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

With no rugby played since the Chiefs defeated local rivals Bath at Sandy Park back in mid-March, it’s proved a testing period for everyone as they look to get to grips with the crisis that has struck all corners of the world.

Thankfully, there appears to be a glimmer of light for all clubs, including the Chiefs, with a proposed restart date of Saturday, August 15.

Dollman agrees new short-term deal at Chiefs

Phil Dollman says he’s looking to end his Exeter Chiefs career on a high note after he this week agreed terms on a new short-term deal with the Gallagher Premiership club.

The popular Welshman’s contract expired at the end of June, but after discussions with Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter, he is now extending his career with the Devon club until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.

That means the 35-year-old will be part and parcel of the Chiefs mix as they look to resume their season in both the Premiership and Heineken Champions Cup next month.

“Fingers crossed we...

Civic Leaders send messages of support for Wembley-bound Grecians

Civic leaders have sent messages of support to Exeter City Football Club as the Grecians attempt to win promotion to League Division One at Wembley tonight (Monday 29 June).

The Lord Mayor of Exeter and the Leader of the City Council will once again be taking their place in the ground – as life-size cut-outs - as Exeter take on Northampton Town in the League Two Play-off Final.

The game is being played behind closed doors at the national stadium because of COVID-19 restrictions but nearly 1,800 Grecians will be in the famous ground as life-size cut-outs.
