Offsite construction giants Sigmat agree sponsorship deal with Exeter Chiefs Rugby

Light gauge steel frame specialists Sigmat have announced their partnership with Devon based premiership rugby team the Exeter Chiefs.

The Leeds based firm will be one of the team’s official sponsors for the 2021/22 season.

Sigmat, who are currently working on the construction of a high-profile Marriot Hotel on the club’s Sandy Park site, said they were ‘keen to put something back into the local community’ and saw the opportunity to sponsor the Chiefs as an ideal way to support grass roots rugby as clubs start to emerge from the pandemic.

The new nine-storey, Marriot International Hotel, which will be the largest commercial hotel in the region, will house 250 bedrooms along with ground floor leisure facilities and a spectacular rooftop cocktail bar with stunning views across the River Exe estuary and beyond.

Works are set to be completed in December this year and Sigmat have been involved in delivering an all-encompassing offsite MMC solution including; 4-levels of hot rolled steel transfer structure with Sigmat’s own SFS infill, 5-levels of Sigmat Light Gauge Steel Framing with Sigmat proprietary SigDeck 180mm decking throughout the whole scheme, including provision of roofing, lift / stair cores and staircases.

The heart of the scheme also includes a unique glazed link bridge which offers seamless access from the hotel reception direct to Sandy Park, allowing guests easy entry to the stadium on match days.
