Frequently asked questions about online slots

People often wonder how slot games were born. Some say they were invented by an ancient Chinese housewife who wanted to keep her husband busy.

Others believe that the ancient Egyptians were the first to play a game that looked similar to slot machines. We prefer to think of slot games as a more recent invention, which brings us to the era of video gaming.

If you're an adult, then you know what’s meant by ‘the good old 90s’. That's around the time when slot games were born. Similarly, today's technology has resulted in the advent of online slots games organised in a...

Games of chance involving dice have been around for millennia , and so it’s incredible to think that they were not only a hit with our ancient ancestors, but also entertaining enough to still click with modern audiences.

Of course not all dice games have stood the test of time, so let’s look at just a few of the classics that were invented long ago and yet manage to make a splash at online casinos in the 21st century.

Craps

Why do Brits love a fruit machine?

Across the globe, they go by many names: the slot machine or slots, the puggy, the pokie and even the one-armed bandit, but in the UK we know them most commonly as the humble fruit machine. And we’ve had a prevailing relationship with the little boxes of sound and light since their introduction over one hundred years ago—many Britons are in search of the best slot machine they can find.

A fruit machine, in its most rudimentary form, is a series of at least three reels which, when prompted by the player, spin independently from one another and come to rest each displaying one of...

Exeter’s Maritime History in Pictures, Song and Stories!

In March this year two of Exeter’s best known heritage organisations will be collaborating to support a unique event at the Exeter Custom House. Exeter Red Coat Guides and Exeter Canal and Quay Trust will present, The Inland Haven, which will bring to life tales of Exeter’s harbour and its links to the sea.

Once Exeter’s economic powerhouse, much of the story of the city’s maritime past has been forgotten - but what a story it was! An amazing cast of ‘salty’ characters have had connections with Exeter. Famous captains and admirals; infamous mutineers and smugglers; the fabulously...

New play co-created with people living in the South West shows long history of LGBT loneliness in the region

A new play co-created by people living in the South West shows the long history of LGBTQIA+ loneliness and belonging in the region.

Mistreatment and marginalisation from society has meant LGBTQIA+ communities have created their own spaces for solidarity, creativity, and dialogue.

The Beat of Our Hearts , written by South West-based playwright Natalie McGrath, will be staged as part of LGBT History Month in February.

Project lead, Dr Charlotte Jones from the University of Exeter, worked with organisations and individuals in the South West to develop and stage the...

Mulan comes to Exeter for Chinese New Year

Red Dragonfly Productions bring the real story behind the legendary Chinese woman warrior that inspired Disney’s films to Exeter's Northcott Theatre on 12 February 2022, in time for the year of the Tiger.

But don't expect a fluffy Disney tale here, this Mulan is visceral. She is a warrior, a fighter, a woman who survived in a very male world for ten years without discovery. There is no perfect make-up, no singing animals, just a gritty story of a soldier.

Theatre company Red Dragonfly has been making East-Asian stories accessible to a British and international audience...
