Exeter Airport showcases 2020 season to travel trade

More than 130 travel agents attended Exeter Airport’s annual showcase travel trade event on Thursday (November 21) to learn more about the airport’s exciting 2020 season.

The event was held in partnership with Exeter-based Flybe, which will rebrand as Virgin Connect next year, and included representatives from sister company Virgin Atlantic and more than 20 tour operators.

Exeter Airport is offering 36 international and domestic routes for 2020 and recently announced that it had passed the one million passenger milestone in the last 12 months.

Award-winning south west estate agents and chartered surveyors Whitton & Laing have generously donated £1,884 to Exeter-based ‘Balloons’, a charity who help support bereaved children and their families.

The sum represented the year the independent estate agency was established and their way of giving back to the local community as part of the firm’s 135th anniversary celebrations.

Managing coastlines in a changing climate will be discussed at the inaugural South West Coastal Change Conference next week (Tuesday 26 November).

Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their squad with the signing of Argentinian prop Enrique Pieretto until the end of the season.

County Council seeking views on 5G as part of spotlight review

People across Devon are being asked for their views on 5G, as Devon County Council launches a “call for evidence” on the technology.

The County Council’s Corporate Infrastructure and Regulatory Services Scrutiny Committee is investigating 5G as part of a spotlight review.

Although the County Council has no current plans to make use of 5G in its ICT and is not involved with planning applications for mobile infrastructure, it is running an investigation in response to local concern and wants to hear from people to help inform its findings.
