David Walliams will be revealing an intimate secret with some of his closest celebrity friends in a sketch recorded for Comic Relief - Funny for Money (Friday 15th March, BBC One).

The sketch will see David dropping in on a number of celebrity acquaintances he has become close to over the last year including Alan Carr, the Chuckle Brothers, Gwyneth Paltrow and Dr Christian Jessen to name just a few.

Local charity benefits from Lord Mayor’s Valentine Ball

The Lord Mayor, Councillor Rob Newby, accompanied by the Lady Mayoress hosted a Valentine's Masquerade Ball at Exeter Castle on 15 February 2013, in aid of his chosen charity, SOCOPS. Guests were welcomed by Miss Charlotte Ward (Regional finalist in the TeenStar Talent Competition) who along with her keyboard entertained the guests before dinner. Following that and an auction, the guests tried their hand at the fun casino and danced the night away to the well know local band, ‘Thick as Thieves’ followed by DJ Ben Fayter.

The University of Exeter Xpression FM football team will be playing a University Staff team to raise funds for The Adam Stansfield Foundation. The match will be taking place at the University Sports Ground (rubber crumb pitch) kicking off at 11.00am on Sunday 17 March.

The students from the Sports Radio Station have been fundraising with local businesses and sports teams, to put on a grand raffle and auction after the match.

Alzheimer’s report highlights deeper problem, says Vitalise

National disability charity Vitalise says that the shock findings of a new Alzheimer’s Society report into residential care for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia point to an even deeper problem.

Responding to the Alzheimer’s Society’s new report, ‘Low Expectations’, which found that only 41% of relatives of loved ones with Alzheimer’s or dementia said they enjoyed a good quality of life in residential care, Vitalise’s research has revealed that the problem extends to people with other disabilities and their carers too.

Three members of the Exeter Chiefs took on the challenge to bake and decorate 1,000 cup cakes to show their support for Red Nose Day 2013, and inspire everyone to get out the cake mix to raise money.

Ashfords staff complete five-day cycle marathon for charity

Scores of Ashfords' solicitors swapped their briefs for cycling shorts to support a five-day cycling marathon in aid of their chosen charity, Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. More than 120 members of staff took part in a cyclathon on static bikes and managed to achieve a total of 1,678 miles between them - the equivalent of cycling from Exeter to Casablanca! Princesshay has introduced Braille menus into its restaurants and cafes to show support for Princesshay’s new charity of the year for 2013, WESC Foundation: The specialist centre for visual impairment.

On Thursday 7 March regional charity Young Devon is hosting its Big Sleep Out event in Exeter’s Princesshay from 8pm – 8am to raise awareness of the issues of homelessness for young people in Devon. This year’s Motorcycle Ride Out, sponsored by Bridge Motorcycles, will return to the Den, Teignmouth on Sunday 9th July 2017.

It is anticipated in the region of 1000 bikes will enter this year’s Ride Out which will start from Trago Mills, Newton Abbot, from where the bikes will set off in small groups from 10:30am.

Registration will open at 9am. The bikes will then follow an approximate 80 miles marshalled route through the stunning Devon countryside before arriving at the Den, Teignmouth, from lunch time.
